Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Project Bācharu Toshokan

What is Project Bācharu Toshokan?
Project Bācharu Toshokan (バーチャル図書館, meaning "Virtual Library") is a comprehensive VTuber database that aggregates information from multiple sources into a single, searchable platform. It covers VTubers from all agencies and independents alike — their profiles, social links, live streams, group affiliations, and more.
Where does the data come from?
Data is automatically collected and merged from multiple curated sources — I do not manually add or edit data. The sources include: Virtual Youtuber Wiki (for comprehensive profiles), HoloList (for structured agency data), VTubie (for indie VTuber information), Twitch (for live streams, categories, and social links), YouTube (for channel data and live streams), and Twitter/X (for recent activity and social verification). The automated pipeline cross-references these sources, deduplicates information, and merges conflicting data intelligently to ensure accuracy.
Why is my data not up to date?
Since all data is sourced automatically and I cannot manually edit profiles, the accuracy depends directly on the completeness of the source databases. If your information is missing or outdated in Virtual Youtuber Wiki, HoloList, VTubie, Twitch, YouTube, or Twitter, it will also be outdated here. To fix this: (1) Update your profiles on those platforms, (2) Submit corrections to Virtual Youtuber Wiki or HoloList, (3) Contact me if the issue persists after source updates.
How often is the data updated?
Live streaming status is polled every 3 minutes. Social media data like follower counts and recent activity are refreshed periodically through the extraction pipeline. Wiki-based profile data is updated when I run merge cycles.
Why are some VTubers missing?
The database is continuously growing. If a VTuber is missing, it may be because they haven't been indexed by the source databases yet, or they didn't meet the verification criteria. I'm always expanding coverage.
What does the "graduated" status mean?
"Graduated" is a term used in the VTuber community to indicate that a VTuber has officially ended their activities under that persona. It doesn't necessarily mean they've stopped streaming — they may continue under a different identity. I respect their decisions and keep their profiles for historical reference.
What do the group statuses mean?
Groups can be Active (currently operating), Inactive (no current members but not officially dissolved), or Liquidated (officially dissolved/disbanded). Former members are tracked separately so you can see who was part of a group even after it's gone.
How does the live status feature work?
I periodically check Twitch and YouTube for live streams from VTubers in the database. When someone goes live, they appear on the Live page and the homepage live section. You can also see their live status directly on their profile page with a link to watch the stream.
Can I use this data for my own project?
The API is currently not open to the public as the project is still in beta and I'm actively working out bugs and refining the data pipeline. Once things stabilize, I plan to explore offering public API access. In the meantime, if you're interested, feel free to reach out via the contact form to discuss early access.
How can I report incorrect information?
If you spot an error — wrong social link, incorrect group affiliation, missing data — please let me know through the contact form. Community corrections help make the database better for everyone.
Will there be ads on this site?
The site uses Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand traffic patterns. Ads may be introduced in the future to help cover hosting costs, but the core database and features will always remain freely accessible.
