2k Milestone

As mentioned already in this tweet, we have reached the 🎉2k Milestone🎉 and with this came these features:

• "Support a VTuber" page
• Donothon & subathon support

• Partner & affiliate indicators

• Follower & sub counts

• Animal & hashtag filters

Mid April Update

With this, we are already well on our way to the 3k Milestone, which I have already been working on behind the scenes.

Alongside, I have also been working on the following features, which you might have noticed if you navigated the page lately:

Reworking of the Hashtags While Also Filtering Them

I wasn't happy with how the hashtags were sitting below, quite lost and not giving a purpose to the user. I went ahead and did some digging, noticing a pattern that users use hashtags on Hololist and VTWiki specifically for fan art, NSFW, and clips at times. So I went ahead and filtered those to mark them visually for users to see. I was also considering linking these to Twitter, so users could open these directly on Twitter. However, since Bacharu has Twitter and Bluesky, it can be on both platforms, making it hard to link them accordingly.

Bluesky Mentioned? Yes, Bluesky Was implemented!

For those that have Bluesky linked in your socials. You will now see Bluesky posts in your Recent Activities!

Twitch Schedule & Recent Broadcasts

I went ahead and added the Twitch Schedule to Bacharu, along with the recent broadcasts which list the views for each broadcast. It will show the days, the categories you will be streaming in and at which time it happens related to UTC time. Mind you that if you have no Schedule on Twitch this will not show.

Along with that, if you have a vacation notice set, it will also show that. This also means you should turn it off when you aren't on vacation because the notice will confuse users.

Illustrator, Modeller, Riggers, etc. (Work in Progress)

I went ahead and filtered out the "Character Designer" section, along with some proper linking to the respective people. This has been a work in progress since the scenarios per VTuber can be very different, and it is a challenge. Below you can see Zentreya, which is one of those scenarios that I struggle with:

Further Enhancement of the Follower & Sub Counts

I enhanced these sections with icons but also by showing off the streamer-specific goals. This means that Twitch follower goals, sub goals, Partner Plus goals, community goals, etc. will be listed here, making it more interesting for users to help support these goals and check out the streamer.

Technical Improvements (Behind the scene changes)

The biggest change, which isn't visual, was the further improvement of the services behind the scenes. Since the start, I have been going with a monolith approach, which means having all services inside one project and running everything from one system. This approach had many flaws, which also included many downtimes in the past. If one service had an issue, all the other ones did, and none of the services would work anymore.

This is why I went ahead to take these things apart and make each specific service its own system. This made it easier to implement Bluesky, for one, since all the other services were running behind the scenes while Bluesky was independently being implemented. I believe that with this approach, Bacharu will grow stronger and be more resilient when it comes to future implementations.

That wraps up the Mid April Update! A lot has changed under the hood and on the surface, and I'm excited about the direction Bacharu is heading. The shift to independent services is already paying off, and it sets a solid foundation for everything planned in the 3k Milestone and beyond.
