Chiyo Shiyan

Legend has it that 109,000 miles above the Earth lies a place called the Heavenly Court, inhabited by all sorts of gods and mythical beasts, where rare medicinal herbs abound.

It was in this very place that a rare and exceptional Vermilion Bird, seen only once every ten thousand years, was born. Living in this paradise-like environment, her... spiritual energy was exceptionally abundant, and food was plentiful. However, despite this perfect place, she was only interested in humans. At the repeated urging of her friends, she secretly descended to the mortal realm.

She witnessed many delicious delicacies and trinkets of the human world, finding everything incredibly novel and fascinating. Days passed, and she wandered the mortal realm, unwilling to return to Heaven, until she was forcibly taken back, at which point she reluctantly departed.

When she returned to the Heavenly Court, the Jade Emperor decreed that she must not step outside the Heavenly Court until she reached adulthood. The reason for this decree was that she was the only rare Vermilion Bird and therefore needed protection to prevent unnecessary harm.

Every day she eagerly awaited her coming-of-age ceremony, for once it ended, the ban would be lifted, and she could descend to the mortal realm again. But this was something the Heavenly Emperor hadn't anticipated. He thought that with this transitional period, the little girl's curiosity would have been worn away by time, but… that was only what he assumed.

The Vermilion Bird descended to the mortal realm again, but this time she didn't go stealthily. This time, she transformed into her true form, spread her wings, and soared forward, savoring the breath of freedom. Show more
