Orthylia Lavinia Keating was born to an upper-class family in Victorian England.

She was raised as an only child by her nervous, highly educated, Widower father, Arthur Keating. Her mother died in childbirth due to infection.

Due to a long running superstition and genetic commonalty in Arthur's bloodline (only affecting the men in their family up until Orthylia), he believes he is cursed, and so too is Orthylia for sharing in their mismatched eyes, and extreme premature greying. She was raised to be the perfect Victorian woman, anything a future husband could want, but also a Victorian Man's worst nightmare. Opinionated, powerful, educated, stubborn, raised with a strong sense of business and regularly included in Arthur's work, she learned to read people, close deals, and strategize for her own gain.

Reaching ideal marital age, it was clear that her upbringing was unorthodox, and often chased suitors away, despite clear interested due to status or aesthetics (although not the idea beauty of the era). Orthylia would often shut down suitors, she was stubborn, wanting nothing less than someone to verbally spar with, someone intelligent, and who wouldn't force her into a typical marriage. She was picky, callous, and intellectually restless.

Over time she pushes more and more options away, and her father growing concerned due to her age, begins to push back on her pickiness, he sets up multiple viable suitors, by she is resistant to her beliefs and begins to resent her father.

In 1858, Orthylia and her father enter a winter socialite ball, with business intentions. Here, she meets Alwyn Coldwood, a handsome, but gruff man who actively challenges Orthylia at every turn, topic, and mentally spars with her during the event. The two verbally and physically spar at the event, exchanging stomped on toes and sour remarks, the two carefully weaving between social rules and her father's pressured gaze.

The two leave, but left itching to speak, spar, and fight again, starting a long verbally aggressive engagement, and eventual marriage between the two. Something both of them took much pleasure in.

After the two are married she is swept away, Alwyn turns out to be a vampire, turning Orthylia after blocking all contact with the outside world, seizing any status, fortune, or other benefits their marriage brought to him. Alwyn would leave for extended periods of time, leaving Orthylia trapped. She began to so stir crazy, finding everything and anything to keep her engaged, slowly unravelling mentally as the years went on.

She eventually discovers the internet and uses it as a way to share her many projects and talents tyo the whole world while sytaying safe from the sun.
