He was abandoned by his former owner when she moved houses and had to rely on wandering around the park near where his previous owners lived, begging for food from strangers. Occasionally, he would go to a nearby restaurant where the owner would leave him leftovers. One day, while crossing the street to go to the park, he thought he saw his former owner on the other side of the street. He ran across, and a truck hit him and drove off. Watanabe, who was passing by, saw him and took him to the vet. Seeing that he was an old dog, the vet told Watanabe it would be very difficult for him to recover. However, Watanabe decided to take care of him anyway and brought him to Wanchete.
