Hikari was born as a half elf in a world separate from our own. A World filled with magic, fantasy, heroism and tragedy. And She wasn't born under the name Hikari. She lived in a small village deep in the woods with her mother and father. She had a relatively comfortable and happy early life. However tragedy struck when her village was set ablaze. Afterwards life wasn't the same for Hikari, it wasn't just the mental and physical scars that the event left her with. But the way the people around her treated her.
She struggled many years of her life as the society around her began to silently shun and turn her away. Their stares, hushed voices when she entered a room, slight turning of their bodies away from her. Like the world was denying her existence.
This started to change however, when something for magical happened in a dusty old library. She found a book titled "Hikari". It was a book telling the story of an elven cleric whose kindness and love once changed the fate of the world. Her faith and benevolence shined to the world as a beacon of light, a beacon of hope in an otherwise dark and depressing world. This Cleric had saved the world from evil with the help of her god.
Hikari realized that what the title of the book meant, to bring hope to others. She wanted to become someone's hope, someone's light. As she asked herself if she could be someone like that, she felt two warm arms wrap her in a hug and the book in front of her started turning the pages to the back of the book to reveal a picture of the elven cleric and her god. The god was wearing a brown cloak and patting the cleric's head; the same sensation Hikari was feeling on her own head. Even though no one was there, she could feel it and hear a voice in the deepest recesses in her mind.
Her god offered his aid to guide her so she would no longer have to fight alone. To give her strength and support to help her become like the cleric in the book. She would no longer have to be alone. To become a light to the world. She felt a wave of relief fall over her like a crashing wave. The magical blessing her god gave her shrouded over her hiding her scars to give her peace of mind.
In honor of the cleric in the book: she decided to don the name Hikari and worked tirelessly as a cleric to bring love and light back into her world. It wasn't long before she was known far and wide as a symbol of love and light in her own right. She had happiness and confidence she only ever dreamed of having.
One day: her god spoke to her again, offering for her the chance to help another world similar to her own. A World that didn't have magic to help the people in it. She was warned that her light wouldn't shine as bright or that she may not be accepted but that her god would accept her and support her in anyway he can. Hikari didn't hesitate and accepted the offer. Bringing Hikari to our world.
After some time in our world, Hikari studied various textbooks pertaining to the subject of scars; specifically ones obtained by burns in order to better understand herself. She reflected on how the textbooks never truly covered the personal living experience, the struggles and challenges that come with the recovery process and living with the scars. She also had the opportunity to meet others that had similar experiences to herself. She reflects on people who have scars can hide them but some don't have the means to,nor that they shouldn't have to. That no one should feel they need to hide themselves based on their appearance.
She decided to ask her god to remove the glamour magic he had placed upon her after reflecting on her past and the many friends she had made. Despite all the cruel and horrible words that were thrown her way all throughout her life in her world: she remembered the connections she made in her world and our world, realizing that she was accepted no matter what condition she was in. As long as she was her, that's all that mattered.
