On 8 April, Illya parted ways with Project Yoru and continued streaming as an independent VTuber.
On 28 July, she made what would be her last known livestream on YouTube.
Controversy and retirement
On 4 May, Illya was criticized after she posted a 19-second video showing herself driving recklessly. In the video, the highway appeared empty, and she overtook a truck by using the shoulder lane. In the final seconds of the video, a parked truck can be seen, yet Illya deliberately accelerated. This behavior drew a lot of negative criticism. Illya claimed that her actions were intentional and that she would do it again. She said it was normal for her because she wanted to test the car’s capabilities. She also stated that her top priority while driving was other drivers, and claimed that she only risked her own life, even though the video showed that she had a friend in the car. The post also caught the attention of automotive enthusiast Ridwan Hanif, who commented on Illya’s claim of driving from Jakarta to Surabaya in just 4–5 hours.
The controversy saw a small spike in YouTube views, which had been largely stagnant since the end of March 2023. However, on 12 July, an alleged former partner posted to social media, who claimed to have previously been in a car crash while Illya was the driver. By 17 July, her Twitter account appeared to have been deleted.
