The color of the night sky is purple.
No it's not an endless abyss of black once the sun sets. The stars and celestial bodies share their light to form our universe, leading to a calming lavender tint to the expanse above our heads.
It was under a purple sky Kat found a sickly kitten, starving and almost frozen solid. It was the same sky under which the two shared a fulfilling life. And… it was also a purple sky under which the feline fell sick for the last time.
Humans, as we are, tend to forget that not everything is in our control. Life, unfortunately, is filled with tearful goodbyes and yet Kat was determined not to give up.
Incense burned and sigils marked the earth. The air stifled and beasts knew better than to associate with the ritual. Crimson blood dripped alongside morning dew and mercury to call upon a great one in hopes to grant her request. Thunderous rumbling shook the very sky as the moon split apart like the egg of a newly born bird, to reveal it.
In a voiceless conversation the terms of the deal were set. It had been ages since the lunar entity was worshiped and it showed its favor by granting Kat's plea. The cat would become a part of her to enjoy an extended life and in return Kat would never be separated from it again.
In the end it was a purple night under which, they were born anew.
