KUNI

KUNI has a slightly chubby yet muscular build, short messy black hair, stubble, and large rectangular glasses. He wears a white collared shirt under green overalls with a turnip icon, plus gloves and sturdy boots for his farmer look. Despite the practical outfit, his soft expression and round features give him a warm, approachable vibe.

KUNI is a cheerful and friendly VTuber who loves warmly greeting his viewers, often with his playful catchphrase “Bello” (inspired by the Minions). Though naturally introverted and prone to stuttering when excited, streaming has helped him open up and connect with others. He has a sweet yet strong voice, calm at times, but loud when he gets carried away, and while he gives off a cozy vibe, he also enjoys fast-paced action games like Overwatch.

KUNI launched his X (formerly Twitter) account in October 2021, initially sharing fanart. By January 2023, he had created a personal persona, leading him to post more original illustrations and animations.

On 24 January 2024, KUNI released a cover of ぽかぽかの星 (Poka Poka Planet) by はるまきごはん (Harumakigohan), featuring a fully animated video he created himself. While staying true to the original, he added unique backgrounds and scenes highlighting key elements of his character’s story.

KUNI next revealed his Live2D model in February 2024, which gained attention on Twitter for its cute and unique design. After posting more promotions, he finally announced his official debut.

On 21 July 2024, KUNI debuted as a VTuber on YouTube with a short cover of はじめまして地球人さん (Nice To Meet You, Earthling!) by PinocchioP. Along with the usual introductions, he featured a special karaoke segment. His debut gained attention for its unique style, following five months of preparation during which KUNI handled the Live2D art, rigging, and streaming assets himself.

KUNI's fans are called Turnips. Its appearance features a small, round cream-colored body with narrow, slightly oval eyes, soft blushing cheeks, and three large green leaves sprouting from its head.

• KUNI lore1.jpg is a farmer from a distant world who came to Earth after encountering the Voyager Golden Record. The challenges of space travel have caused major memory loss, leaving him with only fragments of his past. On Earth, he established The Radish Farmstead, a farm reminiscent of his home. He believes that expanding his new farm will help him regain his memories and abilities, enabling him to further explore the planet.
• KUNI regularly plants crops in his Farmstead, and in his debut lore, he is seen carrying ordinary, inanimate turnips. However, one day a living turnip mysteriously sprouted from the ground, suggesting that KUNI may have the ability to grow sentient plants. Due to his memory loss, though, he remains unaware of this potential power.
• It is currently unknown if there are other beings like KUNI on his home planet. So far, there have only been towering radishes and other inanimate Turnips.
• KUNI refers to his audience as "Turnips," suggesting that Earth's people are not his intended audience which confirms that this is not a reversed isekai story.
• The distance between KUNI's home planet and Earth is unknown, leaving the timeline unclear.
• However, if we consider the speed of the Voyager spacecraft, it would take over 70,000 years to reach the nearest star system. Whether KUNI resides in that system or another, the distance involved is still astronomically vast.
• Despite the debut song being titled “Nice to Meet You, Earthling!”, no humans appear in the video. It remains unconfirmed whether humans actually exist.
• KUNI lore2.jpg is confirmed that one of his song covers, Poka Poka Planet, takes place after his visit to Earth. Like the debut video, no humans are shown either, leading to the theory that KUNI and the Turnips might possibly be the only inhabitants in the area. This could be supported by the lyric, "La La La, if we sing together, will the melodies reach everyone?"

KUNI uses "Radish" for his farm simply because it’s his favorite vegetable. The name "Turnip" for his fans was chosen because it was the first plant he brought to life.
