Kuroshiro Nova

Nova is known for being generally light-hearted and chill. But she sometimes has bouts of rage spikes, notably while gaming, characterized by increasing swearing in different languages (changing gears from English to French to sometimes Malagasy, with the latter being the highest amount of rage).

She is sometimes playful towards her audience and banters with her Chat on occasion.

Early on, she was shier, naive and hopeful ; but as the years wore on she gained some more confidence and bitterness.

Nova turned out to be a big workaholic, taking breaks from streams only when sick until general fatigue and burnout caught up to her in August 2025, prompting her to finally take a vacation for the first time since starting her Vtubing activities.

Her patriotic feelings increased after discovering the results when searching up the keywords "Madagascar" and "Vtuber" (mainly only videos about the Dreamworks' animated movie or Vtubers ignorant or joking about Madagascar not existing) and she resolved to reveal her nationality and share more about her country.

Nova has long black hair with white tips ending at her lower back, mismatched eyes (left blue and right red), and slightly dark pink lips.

Her most recent outfit consists of a black leather jacket with sleeves folded higher on her arms, a red high-collared tank top in a knitted fabric, gray denim shorts and high-heeled black leather combat boots. She wears lobe ear piercings and three ear cuffs around her cartilage rim (two on the right and one on the left). She has two pendants, sun pendant in yellow gold with a shorter, thinner chain ; and a white gold crescent moon pendant with a longer, thicker chain. She wears four rings of different designs and alternating black, red and blue nail polish.

Nova's first online presence started with the creation of her Twitter account on 30 December 2021, and she shared her character model. The account also started teasing her "partners."

On 24 January 2022, she released her first YouTube video, an original song "Let's do this!" featuring Nova, Kuro and Shiro. She released her first cover song "ERROR by Niki" on 7 February 2022 then had her first stream playing "Doki Doki Litterature Club" on the same day. In March 2022, she started to stream on Twitch and becomes affiliate on 27 July 2022.

In 2024, she releases two original songs: "Unbroken" on 26 January and "This hope won't die" on 4 May for her birthday. She starts simulcasting on YouTube and Twitch, before finally quitting Twitch on 23 August 2024. Streams only continue on YouTube since then.

Nova's V2.0 model debuts on 31 January 2025. She reaches 1,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel on 14 February 2025. She announces the possibility of quitting altogether on 5 May 2025, due to her Vtuber activities not being sustainable.

Nova announced her decision to retire on 2 February 2026. She completed construction of a Royal Palace of Madagascar in Minecraft on 25 April 2026, which garnered attention from a local Facebook news page. By then, Kuroshiro Nova would appear as first result in searches for "Madagascar vtuber" (or the inverse) on sites like Google and YouTube.

• Nova's fanbase is called "Hypernovas" and are canonically dogs.
• On 9 May 2025, Nova drew a mascot illustration for Hypernovas, and would later draw custom versions called Hypersonas . The original Hypernova is a small dog, based on a mix of corgi and Siberian husky with gray and white fur, and fluffy tail and ears. It wears a small red scarf with a glowing star (Nova's emoji).
• Her fanbase, while relatively small, has demonstrated generous dedication with support, notably after she announced she might need to quit in May 2025, and during her send-off donothon in April 2026.

• Nova was inspired to become a Vtuber after watching Holostars and learning of their history. She admires their perseverance and loves watching their vibes of boys being boys together.
• Nova has a brother, first tentatively called Novabro, then later dubbed Brova . He has been a silent guest from time to time, to help Nova beat difficult sections in games (notably in the Remake of Resident Evil 4 where she couldn't deal with some enemies due to them triggering some mild entomophobia), and playing Minecraft together to beat Hardcore mode and the Wither . He was also the one to introduce Nova to Vtubers. In that sense, Holostars and Brova are the reason the Vtuber Kuroshiro Nova ever existed.
• One of Nova's most valued colleague and friend is Ra Hents who has been her music producer from the beginning, handling her instrumentals, mixing and mastering (especially early on until she learned to mix her covers herself).
• Nova didn't make a formal debut nor even announced her first stream.
• Nova has only disdain for Dreamworks' Madagascar movies and franchise, citing the lack of impact the movie had on actually promoting her country since many seemed to not make the connection between the actual island and what was shown in the movie . She even has a rule to not mention it on streams and in Discord.
• Nova has a hard time sticking to one language when speaking, and tends to mix French words, and even Malagasy and Japanese, with English when trying to explain something to her audience (since that is how she speaks off stream).
• Nova considers English swearing as "baby swearing" and tends to drop F-bombs even without being enraged. She considers French a bit more spicy and will let out some choice words without being critically enraged. Meanwhile, she considers Malagasy is ear-flaying and refuses to teach her Chat any swear words in her native tongue.
