  • "Mitsuba" means "three leaf."
  • "Rei" is a Japanese female given name. It's written in katakana, normally used for foreign words. It's probably from "raytracing," a type of computer graphics rendering appearing in her debut.
Projects
  • Rei's finished projects include a ray tracer and a rasterizer. She also had an unfinished video series about Physically Based Rendering.
  • Rei helped to eliminate a sampling bug in the code written by one of her "students." Rei found that the student's sampling function was different from the one used in the video, and proposed to make the implementation consistent with the underlying mathematics.
  • Rei showed interests in and contributed code to Lightmetrica, a research-oriented renderer.
