Mochimata is a android/simulacrum created to see how well human life could be replicated by a non-human that believed it was a normal person. Some form of error occurred, and she became aware of her true nature, and have decided to live life as she wants, not as she is told to do. She has implied she is the prototype of her product line, with two siblings, presumably later models, named Cassandra and Callahan.

Later on, it was revealed that, as Caimen, Mochi was never intended to be in control of her own body for very long. She was created as a vessel for her creator to install an AI of his daughter, Maxie, into, after she was tragically killed in a robbery gone wrong. Mochi and Maxie have since assimilated into one being, with their AIs "merging". The two individual elements no longer exist, and work together as one being, calling herself Maxie Mochimata.

Despite tending to gravitate towards violent games, Mochi has described herself as nonviolent, and a complete pacifist.

She has stated she is made of aluminum, and later elaborated that she is made of an aluminum-tungsten alloy.
