Vanilla

In this magical forest, countless small creatures and spirits of many different races live together. Deep within the forest lies an otter-like sanctuary bathed in soft moonlight, the Otter Shell Den (獺獺貝窩). This cozy little place belongs to a sea-otter spirit named Vanilla (香草).

Unlike other sea-otter spirits who roam freely across the oceans,... Vanilla carries a deep fear of the sea. When she was young, she accidentally fell into the raging ocean. Having never learned how to swim, she could only panic and struggle helplessly until she was rescued by a passing sea-otter spirit.

From that day on, the sound of crashing waves became her nightmare, making it impossible for her to live by the sea like her companions.

In the magical forest, those who wish to become a fully certified sea-otter spirit must pass one of two trials: First, Explore the hidden depths of the sea and complete a dangerous underwater trial; Second, Purchase an expensive advanced magic book and pass the certification through hard study.

Because of her childhood trauma, Vanilla chose the second path, buying the costly magic book. To earn enough shells for it, she spends her days in her Otter Shell Den healing injured animals.

One day, while Vanilla was treating small animals as usual, a squirrel told her about a mysterious kind of magic called “live streaming.” Through this magic, one could heal small animals and spirits from faraway places and even from different races and earn far more shells too.

Upon hearing this, Vanilla, who fears face-to-face interaction but secretly wishes her voice could reach more spirits and creatures she has never met, decided to combine both methods: healing in her Otter Shell Den and using “live streaming” magic.

Perhaps with both efforts, she might earn enough shells to finally buy the magical book she longs for...!
