Palea does not remember her childhood, or her family. She simply "Woke up" one day in a body that was unfamiliar to her, trapped in a world of concrete, blinding un-natural lights, and the smell of chemicals. Her home was a sterile room, chains restraining her, and a glass window through which she could be observed. There were many doctors who would come and go, and just as she would become acquainted with them, they would be replaced with someone new. But there was one face who always remained the same, watching and studying her from behind the glass. This mysterious man seemed to be in charge of it all, and she knew his intentions weren't good. She would come to learn that this facility was owned by an organization called DreamGear Industries. During this time, she dreamed of lush forests, starry skies, and rushing water... all places she'd never seen before, but she could recall them with such intricate detail. She dreamed of a body that felt comfortable and natural to her. Running free, leaves brushing her skin, claws and teeth, the cool quiet air, the sound of her heart in her ears. Suddenly a grassy clearing. The glimpse of prey. The chase. The smell of blood. Were these really dreams? Despite the fact that they were sometimes chaotic and violent, she longed for these lives. For the freedom. But each morning she would wake up trapped. Not just in the facility, but in this strange body as well. Enough was enough. She didn't care what she was to them, she needed to take her life into her own hands. The night that Palea escaped was a blur. There were broken chains, shattered glass, and gunfire. A maze of hallways of blinding lights and endless doors. The glimpse of prey. The chase. The smell of blood. Red flashes, and a deafening alarm. She also found another creature trapped in the facility like her - a small black bird-like creature with large innocent eyes, who seemed abused like her. She took pity on him, and set him free. The creature seemed grateful, and held onto her as she made her escape. The roof. The man responsible escaping it all in some strange metal bird with spinning wings. Running free. Leaves brushing her skin. Claws and teeth. The cool quiet air, and the sound of her heart in her ears. This life is mine. I am free.
