Lore
Around 3.6 million years ago, global temperatures plunged. Most sharks went mad with bloodshed, fighting over the scarce food left in the remaining warm seas. At that time, a pregnant megalodon mother had no choice but to migrate into colder waters to hunt. Not long after her pups were born, she was ambushed by powerful predators and died. Almost... all of her offspring were slaughtered as well. Only I survived—by a miracle. After being gravely wounded, I sank to the ocean floor, where the extreme cold sealed me within ice.
In recent years, due to global warming, the ice that imprisoned me began to loosen, and I gradually regained consciousness. When I awoke, I discovered that the continents had changed beyond recognition. Driven by curiosity, I left the frigid Southern Ocean and began roaming across different seas. At first, everything I saw confused me. The water was no longer pure, fish schools were scattered and scarce, and the creatures that once ruled the oceans had declined. In their place was a species called “humans”—fragile and tiny, yet capable of reshaping the entire world through intelligence and tools. I slipped through the deep sea, passing shattered coral reefs; the once dazzling colors had become nothing more than remains sleeping on the seafloor. Wherever my shadow fell, fish scattered, silently acknowledging my return.
My activity soon drew human attention. When I passed through a warm strait known as the “Taiwan Strait,” local fishermen were the first to spot me. At first, they only observed from afar, filming my silhouette and spreading the footage across social media, triggering a frenzy of fear and excitement. I had thought humans were merely weak creatures with a bit of cleverness—but I had underestimated them. They mobilized vast resources and advanced technology for one purpose alone: to capture me and haul me ashore.
When I woke up again, the first thing I saw was a person in a white lab coat sharpening a knife behind the glass of an aquarium. He told me that the outside world was now full of people hunting me, governments as well as fanatical fossil collectors of all kinds. He also said that he was a famous chef and that if I didn’t obediently work for him to make money, he would turn me into sashimi (Q_Q). Huh? After all that effort to catch me, it’s just to make me work for you?) Then he injected me with a greenish drug that allows me to freely switch between human and shark forms every day. (Hey! Are you sure you’re not some kind of weird scientist?!
Well, the direction this story has taken is… Not quite right, but I don’t really have a choice. To be fair, this human isn’t all that bad, he even makes me delicious takoyaki. Still, when I switch into human form, won’t I really be recognized by someone online? Show more
