Tala is a daughter of the sky father Bathala, and sister to Mayari (goddess of the moon) and Hanan (goddess of the dawn). As a young goddess, she was fascinated by humanity, for they — either blessed by innocence or fueled by ambition — prayed to her and all the stars she governed. Tala bore no wisdom over which wishes to grant. So prayers of... bountiful harvest and safe travels were given equal weight to those of bloodthirst and malicious curiosity.
Over many centuries, humans took less and less interest in the gods above as civilization developed. The gods would who didn't perish from conflicts, be it against humanity or each other, went into hiding. Tala was one of the lucky few to continue existing thanks to age-old mortal traditions of worship being maintained. She descended from her heavenly abode and decided to live amongst the humans as a god of lower status and power. Show more
