Tara is a 14-year-old girl from a small village in Sulawesi, near a tropical rainforest. Ever since she was little, she loved exploring nature and observing animals.

One day, Tara encountered a mysterious Tarsius kerdil from the future, who gave her a pair of green “adventure glasses.” When she put them on, she transformed into Tara Liana and gained the ability to understand animal languages. The tarsius warned her that many species would become extinct in the future and that the world was facing natural disasters. From that moment on, Tara set out across Indonesia to introduce local wildlife to children so they could help protect them.

Character

Tara appears as a young girl with short brown hair, wearing a cream-colored explorer’s uniform and green glasses. She also has distinguishing features reminiscent of a small animal, complete with a tail and round ears on her head. She greets her fans as “Sahabat Hutan.”

History

Tara Liana was first developed as a college assignment for the Entrepreneurship course in Visual Communication Design at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya. The student creators behind the project, affectionately known as “Mama & Papa Tara,” are Bridgita Mellyana and Feysha Vileytha.

Initially designed as an educational character for children, Tara evolved into a full VTuber active on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. The character was also showcased at the ITS final project exhibition.

Although she began as a school assignment, Tara Liana is planned as a long-term project. The developers have even announced plans for her to debut as a streaming VTuber, expanding her content from short videos to interactive live broadcasts in the future.
