Whimsicool

Before man wandered Anrothia’s mortal realm, and before gods claimed their divinity, there were those known as The Grand Fae. Primal and flowing with ley power, they devoted themselves to keeping the world in balance.

Terrene, the Grand Fae of earth and nature, happened upon a small barely moving bundle as she walked through her glade bordering the Fae Wilds. She had heard of the elves’ custom to return the second born twin back to the spirit world, but this was the first she had witnessed. Unfurling the bundle, she was met with two green eyes already glazed over. Was it too late? Taking a yet to bloom bud from her antlers, Terrene began to recite an ancient incantation. She would spare part of her own life force to revive this discarded child. The elven babe cried out, startling the lesser fae that had gathered in curiosity to their queen’s actions.

Terrene smiled as the babe rubbed her eyes; one green and now the other purple. “You have bloomed and taken a new form, little bud. My daughter given life from my own cutting; you will be called Whimsi.”

As Whimsi grew, so too did her love for all manner of creation. Instead of harboring resentment towards the elves that abandoned her, she embraced the second life her new mother had given her. However, the elven part of her soon felt the call of adventure and she set forth to see all Anrothia. From the highest mountains to the deepest caves, she sought adventure, adversity, and companionship. Although she loved life outside, her upbringing had tied her to The Wilds and so after a time she found herself unwittingly returned home. There she remained until that eager feeling arose yet again. She missed the world outside the Fae Wilds, the people, the stories, and the thrill. If neither the adventuring life in the wide world beyond, nor the stationary life in the mystic woods filled that empty space, perhaps it was something in the middle.

“But Mother would never approve of me bringing my mortal companions into The Wilds. It’s far too dangerous for outsiders,” she thought as she contemplated how to combine these two sides of herself. “But what if it didn’t have to be? I’ll build my own tavern! A place of respite for anyone who wanders into The Wilds and finds themselves overwhelmed.” Whimsi, alongside her familiar Nymwel and familiar’s apprentice Bimli got hard at work to build The Tilted Toadstool Tavern.
