21 years ago Waves met her guardian angel. She didn't know it at the time, he looked just like every other twelve year old boy that she knew. But something inside her told her he was different. He was kind and caring. He wished to be around her, he was interested in her likes and dislikes. It was him who saw when the darkness started to take hold of her. He was the only one that saw it wrap its arms around her. He saw how it strangled her. And as she slipped further into darkness's embrace he moved closer to her side while others looked away. He kept his hand in hers, his voice in her ear. When she failed to defeat the darkness he doubled down his efforts instead of running away like the rest had. She laid on the ground defeated, broken, scarred, he pushed her to not give in. He cleaned her wounds, stayed with her as I recovered, hand held together.

As light started to come back into her life she saw truly who this boy could be. This one entity that never let go. She tried to break away from him knowing she would never have him by her side forever, fate would never be so kind. But the more she tried the more she ached to have him back with her. They cried together knowing their days were numbered.

She watched him sprout his wings on their last day. They were beautiful and strong, like him. She would have done anything to follow him. But, he told her not to cry. Her day was not here yet but it would be, someday. She never forgot that boy, that voice in the dark. She never forgot the journey they went on together. And those lessons she learned she has used for others. And today when she opened her eyes, she saw him reaching his hand out towards her. He has grown, he has matured but she would remember that boy anywhere. And as she smiled, as she took his hand she felt wings wrap around their bodies. Her wings. He became her guardian angel so she could become yours. Together they watch the world from above the clouds. Ready to help any and all who need them.
