Mauling Rouge

Straight from the swinging 1760's, Mauling Rouge is a killer cryptid with a bit of a Napoleon complex and a passion for horror. From his CHATeau in the historic French region of Gévaudan, he broadcasts all manners of spooky, particularly indie titles and player-created horror content in games such as Roblox and Fortnite. He leads the Gévolution, a... Napoleonic War-inspired paramilitary force of cynocephali, which are a race of dog-headed men historically documented since Ancient times. They boast a healing factor and abnormally long life-spans. Although he was the runt of the litter, Rouge is the heir of an aristocratic line of cynocephali known for burgundy (rouge) fur and long lion-like tails.
As the baron of a noble Occitan house, Rouge showed true grit commanding a cynocephali-based unit deployed to America during the Seven Years' War, which earned him the epithet of "Mauling." Defeat in the war brought about crippling economic hardship on the people of France, which led its King Louis XV to blame the famine on the greed of lower-ranking nobility, especially ones he considered sub-human. This increasing tension led to violence between local peasants and cynocephali. A bounty was placed on Mauling Rouge's head, and he was dubbed The Beast of Gévaudan.
The Gévolution was thus born out of necessity to organize a defense against the detachments of soldiers and contracted wolf-hunters sent by King Louis. The fighting ground to a stalemate over the next three years, however the devastation inflicted on his people left Rouge with little options. He agreed to a staged execution which would cover up an exile to the Americas.
Over the decades he lost his native language, but never his love for the supernatural. With his adversaries long gone, Rouge reacquired his rightful place at his seat of power, repurposing it into a horror cabaret. Aided by B-Chan, his bichon frise maid and second-in-command, the beast is back to inspire fear and fun. Long live the Gévolution! Show more
