Rie is one of the sub bodies created by her host. Her job as a sub bodies is to assist her host in making doors to connect dimensions to the void. Unlike other sub bodies, Rie is not directly puppeted by her creator. Instead, the soul of a young girl inhabits her body.
It is currently unknown where the conscious that inhabits Rie originally came from. It is currently believed that Rie is the conscious of a single human female from a town that her host had previously devoured. Unwilling to be suppressed, this conscious inhabited a sub body. Due to the stress of being devoured and the conditions of her rebirth, Rie has no memories of her origin. Although her memories are gone, Rie does know that she was at some point, a human.
