Xander was meant to act as a minor antagonist for the tutorial boss fight of his story, only aid the hero against a much bigger evil. Unfortunately he was left hanging, as his designated protagonist was caught up with grinding the starting area card-collecting minigame. Left to deal with the final boss on his own, he has to learn the true qualities of a true hero; by interviewing as many wacky characters as he can (in return for some art)
