I am an Arachne, a creature blending human and spider traits, though still a human being by strict biological definitions. I am one of a diverse range of creatures known as Metahumans.

Traditionally, metahumans have been ostracized, feared, or chased out of allohuman societies, leading to our classifications as talking beasts or monsters. Repeated failures to make peace have led metahumans to largely conceal themselves within conclaves in the corners of the world.

Those allohumans who wander into conclaves are never allowed to leave; those metahumans who leave conclaves are never allowed to return.

A chance connection with an allohuman traveller introduced me to a small collection of literature; it was this collection of literature that led me to research the outside world, and eventually to leave and work as an independent archivist and librarian. I currently reside within an abandoned library, seeking to bridge the gap between our societies by bringing solace, comfort, and understanding to others.
