Re:AcT, formerly known as KAGAYAKI STARS (KAGASTA, カガスタ for short), is a Japanese Virtual YouTuber agency created by mikai inc. in 2018. In September 2024, Re:AcT began its overseas expansion with the launch of its KR branch for Korean-speaking audiences. In November 2024, mikai inc. was acquired by the Singapore-based company Group Ltd. Subsequently, in March 2026 Re:AcT's Gaming branch was merged with the GanGun Girls gaming group, from 17LIVE's other agency NexuStella to form VRAID, the only gaming group owned by 17LIVE, under Re:AcT management.

2018
On 2 May, auditions for KAGAYAKI STARS were announced. Auditions ended on 20 May.
On 5 June, it was announced that the first few members of KAGAYAKI STARS would be debuting during late June to mid July. Early designs and sketches of the VTubers were then shown throughout the month, including Inuki Matoi, Mizugame Mia, Kirahoshi Uta, Eleki Antares, Kurama Tsumugi, and Koto Miyuri. In addition, a couple days later after the group announced the debuts of the members, on 7 June, it was announced that two male members would be debuting as well.
KAGAYAKI STARS' first members to introduce themselves were Inuki Matoi, Kirahoshi Uta, and Miyuri Koto, that posted their first tweet on 29 June.
On 6 July, three more members, Eleki Antares, Usami Yuno, and Kurama Tsumugi made their introductions on Twitter. Additionally, Inuki Matoi, Kirahoshi Uta, and Koto Miyuri debuted on YouTube.
Saotome Poemu most likely introduced herself on Twitter around 8 July. This day was also when the first generation of KAGAYAKI STARS was established.
Based on unofficial fanmade wiki entries and posts from fans, KAGAYAKI STARS' first male unit, SuiSay, were established on 10 July, and its first three members were Orio Koya, Mikage Lux, and Hoshikuzu Len, debuted on 12 July.
On 13 July, Kurama Tsumugi and Saotome Poemu debuted on YouTube.
On 20 July, Eleki Antares debuted on YouTube being the last member of the first generation to debut. Additionally, a second audition for KAGAYAKI STARS was held, with the deadline being 31 July.
On 31 August, KAGAYAKI STARS announced ten new numbers, nine of them (Tadase Ciel, Ushio Tia, Futari Mai, Hanabasami Kyo, Shishigami Leona, Tenbin Hakari, Yagiri Mei, Mizugame Mia, and Yumekawa Kanau) being the group's second generation, and one of them (Minato Minami) being an additional member of SuiSay. They were scheduled to debut on 14 September.
On 3 September, the first original song was released under KAGAYAKI STARS, "Honjitsu wa Seiten nari" (本日は星天なり), composed by TOKOTOKO. The song had two versions, one sung by Kirahoshi Uta and other by Hoshikuzu Len.
On 8 September, the short version of the song "KAGAYAKI STARS!!," sung by the first generation was released. It is also considered KAGAYAKI STARS first original song, despite "Honjitsu wa Seiten nari" technically being the first.
On 14 September, on the same day aforementioned new members debuted on YouTube, a new member, Uni Unico, debuted as a "KAGAYAKI STARS trainee."
On 28 September, the full version of the song "KAGAYAKI STARS!!" was released. The song is no longer available on YouTube, but it can still be listened to on an archive of the old KAGAYAKI STARS website.
On 15 October, a new male unit, METEO, was announced. Its members consisted of Kogami Yukari and Yuiga Kohaku. The unit officially debuted on YouTube on 19 October.
On 31 October, KAGAYAKI STARS' second original song, "Haunted Party Night" (ホーンテッド・パーティナイト), performed by second generation was released.
On 3 December, it was announced that KAGAYAKI STARS would be changing its name to "Re:AcT" due to changes in its management policy. KAGAYAKI STARS was a virtual talent agency that specialized in idols, Re:AcT on the other hand would be a varied virtual talent agency. "KAGAYAKI STARS" would continue as a project, but the talents belonging to the project would be divided into different divisions and work as individuals by principle. "Due to the different characteristics of each talent, we intend to change the way we market each talent, and after discussions with each talent, we will assign them to different divisions." It was also announced that five talents would graduate; Kurama Tsumugi and Saotome Poemu on 3 December, and Orio Koya, Hoshikuzu Len, and Mikage Lux on 31 December, meaning that SuiSay would be disbanding on that date as well. Re:AcT's website, was updated with different divisions/categories, Kirahoshi Uta, Shishigami Leona, Tadase Ciel, Futari Mai, and Hanabasami Kyo in "music," Inuki Matoi and Tenbin Hakari in "idol," Asami Yuno, Ushio Tia, Koto Miyuri, Mizugame Mia, and Yumekawa Kanau in "multitalent," Yagiri Mei in "game," Kogami Yukari, Minato Minami, and Yuiga Kohaku in "mens," and Uni Unico in "trainee."
2020
On 10 April, Takigami Rito was terminated following multiple violations of her contract.
On 1 December, Re:AcT launched three music labels: ReAliz, kaleidscope and sinkirow.
2021
On 1 June, Re:AcT announced that Izumo Meguru would retire from her activities on 30 June.
On 30 June, Re:AcT announced that Kirahoshi Uta has officially retired from her activities after being on indefinite hiatus since December 2020.
On 27 October, Re:AcT announced two new members: Kulaku Lie and Sumeragi Rose, with a scheduled debut for 3 November. On the following day, Re:AcT's Twitter account teased an important announcement stream.
On 20 October, Re:AcT announced that Shirane Yuki and Hekina Ail would retire by the end of 2021 due to personal reasons.
On 30 October, during the said stream, Re:AcT announced that ex-upd8 member Kashiko Mari, would join the agency. The music label has also received an overhaul in concept, now each talents are explicitly assigned to a label, as well as the addition of fourth label named "parfait."
2022
On 27 March, Re:AcT announced two new members: Makoh Lisa and Ayamo Nono, with a scheduled debut for 2 April. Along with the two, Re:AcT also announced that ex-SKYCOLOR Project member Usuwa Suu would be affiliated with the agency effective on the same date.
On 7 August Re:AcT turns the Tsubasa Gradation unit into an official label along with ReAliz, kaleidscope and sinkirow.
On 12 August Re:AcT announced new 5 members: Kuryu Isana, Bisui Syuka, Coucourua Creil, Otogi Nemu And Mikoshi Taran. These members are audition passers from the platform Mix Channel. The unit's name is Re:Mixx.
2023
On 10 March, Re:AcT announced new unit Re:AcT Gaming. A project that aims to create a society where female streamers can play an active role in the game market through game distribution on Twitch. Initial with 3 members Koyoi Inari, Sayo Shigure and Tenka Amu.
On 29 December, the agency underwent another reorganization, with the remaining active members becoming solo members in the agency.
2024
On 26 April, additional two new members, Asagi Nagisa and Shirotae Toki from Re:AcT Gaming debuted.
On 21 September, Re:AcT announced the launch of a new Korean-speaking branch, Re:AcT KR.
On 16 November, Re:AcT KR announced four new members, Akame Siah, Mizumo Uru, Majinai Kuroka, Midomido Mayo. They debuted on the Korean-language platform CHZZK on 30 November.
On 26 November, Re:AcT's parent company mikai inc. announced that it has been acquired by the Singapore-based company 17LIVE Group Ltd. (operator of the streaming app & platform). mikai inc. joins NexuStella inc. (operator of VTuber agencies/groups NexuStella, V-iii, BUSHILIVE and GanGunGirls) as one of two VTuber management companies under the 17LIVE corporate umbrella.
2025
On 3 March, Re:AcT announced the return of the graduated Shirane Yuki's and her re-debut as part of March debutants. Shirane Yuki re-debuted on 8 March.
On 7 March, Re:AcT Gaming announced the graduation of its 1st Generation member, Tenka Amu. The graduation date is scheduled for April 11, and Amu's X, Twitch, and YouTube accounts will be set to private on April 20.
On 15 March, Re:AcT announced two new members, Anya Kumori and Layla Sama. They debuted on 20 March.
On 2 May, Re:AcT KR announced that Mizumo Uru would be graduating on May 30. All accounts connected to Uru will be deleted.
On 15 June, Re:AcT announced five new members: Suzuhana Inori, Otoha Sora, Kannagi Anna, Shirazuna Iwo and Tomyoji Kagura. Excepting Kagura, they debuted on 21 June. 14 days later, on 2 July, Kagura finally made her debut. The delay was attributed to her falling ill just two days before the originally scheduled date.
On 5 September, Re:AcT KR 2nd Gen members Seiroku Kira, Aoto Latte and Ten+Ten Tenx2 debuted. The following day on 6 September, Asamiya Nao, and Yuusz Mumu also debuted as part of Re:AcT KR 2nd Gen.
On 12 November, Re:AcT Gaming revealed three new members, Awawa Iruka, Kurono Suzu and Tsuyuri Eru.
On 16 November, Re:AcT announced that Coucourua Creil would be graduating on 27 December.
On 17 November, Re:AcT KR announced the suspension of Asamiya Nao for the rest of 2025, after she was caught on stream making offensive remarks against a viewer. Additionally, all members of Re:AcT KR including Asamiya Nao will undergo a training program as a preventive measure.
On 20 November, Re:AcT KR announced that Akame Siah would be graduating on 31 December.
On 22 November, new Re:AcT Gaming members Awawa Iruka, Kurono Suzu and Tsuyuri Eru debuted.
On 27 December, Re:AcT's parent company mikai inc. announced that Uemura Takahiro, its CEO and Re:AcT's Executive Producer, will be stepping down from his roles on 31 December, marking a change in the company's organizational structure.
2026
On 1 January, Asamiya Nao's suspension was lifted, and she issued her plans for her return stream after 45 days of suspension and self-reflection.
On 12 March, 17LIVE Group annnounced that Re:AcT Gaming has been merged with GanGun Girls, a gaming group from its other VTuber agency NexuStella, to form one, unified gaming group called "VRAID" under the Re:AcT agency. Members joining from GanGun Girls include Ayasaki Yuu, Kunashiki Lin, Tsukinari Lux, Nanahoshi Nana, Fuuki Michiru, and Berry Cute. An announcement stream was held on the official VRAID channel to showcase the launch of the group, and also announced the upcoming debut of a new member, Lulunea Neruru on 23 March.
On 22 March, Kototoi (コトトイ, stylized as kototo!) made her debut as part of Re:AcT.
On 23 March, Lulunea Neruru (ルルネア=ネルル) made her debut on YouTube as VRAID's first new member.
On 31 March, VRAID member Ayasaki Yuu graduated. Her retirement was originally announced on 10 March by NexuStella, the agency managing GanGun Girls before the merger with Re:AcT Gaming.
On 2 April, Ayamo Nono held her return stream on a new YouTube channel after having previously retired on 4 June 2023.
On 15 April, VRAID announced that Musubime Himari would be graduating on 27 April.
On 21 May, VRAID announced that Nanahoshi Nana will be leaving the agency on 31 May as a result of her contract's expiration. She will return to independent VTuber status after that date.

The unit has been disbanded on 29 December 2023 following a new reorganization, with the remaining active members becoming solo members in the agency.
