Yuánbǎo (元宝) is a young Pixiu born within the ancient jade forests that surround the Heavenly Gate, a realm where mythical creatures train to guard fortune and repel misfortune. Unlike most Pixiu—who spend their early years learning to channel wealth-attracting energy—Yuánbǎo was unusually curious about the mortal world.
He would often sit atop cloud ledges watching humans build cities, create inventions, and go to school. Fascinated by the idea of learning through books rather than instinct, he asked the Celestial Court for permission to study among humans. After much debate (mostly about whether a Pixiu could fit into a classroom desk), he was granted a temporary “Mortal Realm Exchange Pass.” (fake.)
