Betta merpeople are known for their fierceness and battle techniques, and absolute refusal to back down. Ariantha, a witch, detested fighting, and instead dedicated herself to healing. She fled from the battle with her closest allies, dabbling in magic and potion making. She and her band of rebels traded with those on land, and the more she learned about those with legs instead of fins, the more she wanted to leave the water and explore. She pushed harder, reading on beaches and learning everything she could. With enough powerful magic and a healthy smattering of luck, she and her allies split their fins and grew legs, stepping out of the water and into a whole new world for the first time.
Since then, she's done her best to expand her knowledge and help who she can, and finds happiness in the happiness of others, always learning.
