Nala is a very witty, wise, and well-read librarian. She is a deep thinker with a (primarily) mature personality, and an often “mature” sense of humor.
Appearance
With a neck of blue flames, Nala is a dullahan who adorns herself in a neo-Victorian and emo-inspired dress, which displays the constellations. She wears a pair of earrings representing caged souls, and wears a brooch of a horse skull atop two crossed scythes and blue flames (the emblem of the Forgotten Library).

Nala Nanahoshi created her socials in May 2025, and debuted on 18 October 2025.
Mascot and Fans
- The fanbase of Nala and the Forgotten Library is called the "Inkbound", referring to how the souls she collects are bound in ink on a page, and how they are also bound to her. Nala is very possessive of her Inkbound, so try not to do anything to them, and especially don't try to leave (she will cry).
- The Forgotten Library has two mascots: the michivous Gomadochi, and the eternally grumpy Gerald.

Gerald
Carried on a small brass plate he refers to as his throne, Gerald is a small, and often sassy, sentient wax candle. Gerald is a very grumpy "guide" of the library and the leader of the Candle Union. He hates new-age poetry, romance novels, philosophy, his job, and us (probably). Despite his abhorrent attitude, Gerald is genuinely proud and protective of his favorite librarian, though he himself would never admit it. Another thing to note is that his flame reacts to lies and emotional intensity, so be wary of what you say around him!

Gomadochi
From the mystical lands of Tír na nÓg, Gomadochi is a mischievous Cait Sith with fur of black and white and a tail tipped in a blue flame. Upon Nala’s first arrival at the near-infinite archive, Gomadochi (or Goma for short) slipped into the library, and into our hearts, entirely unannounced. Goma is a curious being and is known to be quite the prankster and an immaculate troublemaker. He is caring, fiercely loyal, and has an attachment to Nala, even fiercer than his loyalty. Despite Gerald's constant, strongly worded complaints and his harsh words, his pranks are rarely cruel.
