Patches is depicted as a Frankenstein-inspired monster girl with teal skin. Darker green patchwork markings are visible around her left eye, left hand, and left leg. Her hair is a dark purple, nearly black in color, worn long and curly to the waist with center bangs. There are white streaks throughout her hair as a reference to The Bride of Frankenstein.

She has heterochromatic eyes, with a bright blue right eye and a dark black left eye. Her makeup and visible stitching are purple, which is the main color throughout her design. Two large metal bolts protrude from the sides of her head, which Patches has cited as a reference to the manga Franken Fran. She also has pointed ears and large silver earrings.

Her primary outfit consists of a long black and purple tiled cardigan with skulls and hearts overtop a fitted black bodice adorned with purple lace and a prominent purple bow with her skull logo. She wears a black corset with neon green lacing and a ruffled skirt layered with translucent mesh. Additional accessories include torn stockings, large black shoes with purple ribbon details, a choker featuring a lightning bolt, and hair accessories including a skull-shaped clip and an X-shaped hair clips.

Patches initially streamed under the name patchworkdlive, a temporary username adopted while determining a permanent online identity. The decision to begin VTubing was made impulsively, which contributed to several subsequent name changes.

Patches has shared limited information about her streaming activity prior to adopting the Patches persona. Available information indicates that she previously produced Minecraft-related content aimed at younger audiences. According to past acknowledgments, she participated in a charity livestream organized by CaptainSparklez and later collaborated with Re-Logic, the development team behind Terraria, on a successful charity stream.

In January 2026, the channel was renamed PatchworkdMonster. Her first stream under the name Patches took place on 3 November 2025.

• Patches was diagnosed in 2024 with the heart condition Atrial Fibrillation, also known as AFib, a heart arrhythmia condition characterized by a rapid, irregular, and chaotic heartbeat stemming from the heart's upper chambers. Patches has stated this is an inspiration for her character lacking a heart.
• Patches worked in a Game Store selling Magic the Gathering for a considerable amount of time. She often recites horror stories from her time working in that industry, including chat's favorite villain, a customer named Terry.
