Lore

(TRIGGER WARNING: LITERALLY EVERYTHING)

Note: This is the lore for Yoshida, not the person who plays the character (Haruka). However, some of it is drawn from her personal experiences.

  • Condensed and heavily censored version -

Born in the snowy landscapes of Hokkaido on February 20th, 2005, Yoshida Yususayuki’s life was defined by a medical anomaly that baffled experts, uncertain of her place in this world. From birth, she struggled with a mysterious, degenerative condition that plagued her physical form. This condition that rots her from the inside out. not only affected her lifespan but manifested in terrifying episodes where her eyes would darken, leaking a strange, ink-like substance.

Due to the rarity of her species and her frail health, Yoshida spent much of her childhood in isolation within hospital walls. Her condition made it nearly impossible to gain weight or strength, leading to a life of physical fragility. Despite the mushy, brown, often stinky tips of her ears—a physical marking of her internal decay—Yoshida found a sanctuary in the arts. In her sketchbooks, she wasn't a "medical anomaly" or a social outcast; she was the architect of a world where she was finally whole. She chose to worship Pinguinet, the God of Penguins and the Arctic Sea, at an early age as he aligned with her beliefs. She connected with him on a personal level.

From age 4 to 14, Yoshida’s life was overshadowed by the cruelty of her father. Under the guise of funding her expensive treatments, he led her into a monstrous world of profound exploitation. Using "business trips" as a cover, he traded her safety for profit, taking advantage of the fact that, in their society, her species lacked basic legal protections. Despite her frailty, Yoshida attempted to escape these "mean men" multiple times, though her physical weakness often led to further hardship. To this day, her mother remains blissfully unaware of the darkness that funded their lives.

Amidst this turmoil, Yoshida sought connection. In 2010, she formed a deep bond with a fellow patient in the hospital that was a little older. They shared their dreams via email, providing a lifeline for Yoshida as she struggled with the weight of her reality and the bullying she faced at school. However, when her friend passed away when Yoshida was only 7, the loss left a permanent scar on her heart.

Following the birth of her sister, Kimiko (now known as Cappuccino), Yoshida channeled her grief into protection. She became fiercely attached to her sister, and together they performed as "popstars" for their plushies. This joy was often interrupted by Yoshida’s worsening condition—black ink and physical collapses that left a young Kimiko hypervigilant, forever changing the bond between the two sisters.

As Yoshida grew older, she turned her intellect toward the shadows of society. While being homeschooled—where she excelled as an unrecognized prodigy—she began uncovering classified digital files and going on the dark web forms. These documents revealed a grim reality: the government was complicit in the mistreatment of Elves and Bubblegum Bunnies, often viewing them as subjects for unethical experiments — or euthanization — rather than citizens. Infuriated, Yoshida spent her nights teaching herself English and decoding these "forbidden forms," eventually stumbling upon data regarding a mysterious (yet adorable) alien species known as Baby Bunnies.

Solace finally came at age 12 within a restricted, silent forest. There, she encountered a "Baby Bunny"—a feral, profoundly radioactive creature considered the most dangerous of its kind. While the radiation would have been fatal to others, Yoshida’s own mysterious condition granted her a strange resistance to it. Instead of attacking, the creature formed an inexplicable bond with her.

Using a stolen chemistry set and a cocktail of scavenged ingredients—ranging from lithium batteries and radioactive sludge to pomegranates and glitter—Yoshida successfully synthesized Stabilizer 0.1 after much trial and error. She used random items out of frustration of formal chemicals not working. This glowing pink compound became the only thing the creature could consume. It didn't just nourish the Baby Bunny; it calmed its violent instincts and, for the first time, allowed its speech to be understood by human (or human-like) ears. Through this accidental alchemy, Yoshida found her first true protector.

The tension in Yoshida’s home reached a breaking point when she was 14. In a final act of self-preservation against her father’s cruelty, she fought back to ensure he could never harm her or her siblings again. His head and body would be separated into a bag. While the shadows of that night remain a heavy secret, it led her into the depths of the forest to hide the remnants of her past. It was there, amidst the trees, that she encountered Yuri, a lingering ghost. Though startled at first, Yoshida found a kindred spirit in the spirit. They spent the night talking until dawn—two souls abandoned by the world (one of them being in a literal sense), finding a strange comfort in each other’s presence.

Over the next two years, Yoshida distanced herself from her family and worked tirelessly at "WichaelAlone" to save every yen possible. At 16, she made the bold move to Fukuoka, bringing Yuri and Baby Bunny with her. Their first home was a cramped, one-bedroom apartment, but it was theirs.

With her savings, Yoshida purchased an abandoned, derelict building. Despite the mold and cobwebs, she saw a future. She transformed the ruin into a sanctuary: a boutique coffee shop specializing in the sweets and milkshakes she once dreamt of making with her sister. This cafe became more than a business; it was a physical manifestation of her art and her first true place of safety.

The cafe, once a derelict ruin, blossomed into a bustling hub for tourists and locals alike. Yoshida’s proficiency in 5 languages—Japanese, English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean—made her shop a welcoming crossroads for people from all walks of life. It was during a rare vacation to the island of Shikoku that her life took another supernatural turn. She met Khoi Shimizu, an ancient God of Koi. A stoic shapeshifter whose personality shifts with his form, Khoi became a source of fascination and affection for Yoshida, bridging the gap between her mortal struggles and the divine.

As her business grew, so did her desire to help others. Yoshida eventually used her success and gifts she got in the holiday season to launch her YouTube channel. Originally too shy to show her face, she had Baby Bunny record her scripts until she found the confidence to stand in the spotlight herself. Today, her channel and cafe serve a higher purpose: raising funds and awareness to help others escape the same cycles of exploitation she once endured.

Though the "inky veil" of her condition still lingers and the fabric of space-time occasionally warps around her, Yoshida is no longer defined by her trauma. She is a linguist, an artist, a business owner, and a protector. While she occasionally visits her mother and siblings to share her success, she has finally built a world of her own—one made of sugar, milkshakes, and the strength to move forward.
