Bao is incredibly kind, giving genuine compliments to others. In addition, she shows a passion for puns and an attunement to the culture of the internet and her fandom, often conversing with members of her Discord. In her debut, she states that hayamafair designed her to be "free and enthusiastic, like a playful little spirit of the ocean."

As she became more comfortable with streaming, Bao's content got progressively more unhinged. These events (often called "incidents") include an "allegation of having a dent on her head that makes her dumber," developing a thirst for army members, and the invention of "The Baoberry."

Bao might act (and actually be) unhinged most of the time, but she's also a very gentle and soft person. She likes to joke around with her Baobble buddies and play along when they "roast" her, but she also appreciates and genuinely enjoys being praised for her hard work and receiving compliments from her fans. This contrast is reflected in her model, which has two forms: the "princess" and the "yandere".

Her princess form has short, neck length light blue (almost a water like sheen and look) hair with thick 'bangs' that have white symbol markings on them and red eyes. Her bangs have glowing white small star like markings near the ends of her bangs and a glowing white circle with a quarter of it taken out at the top with a line coming out of the bottom of the circle, inside is a filled in glowing white circle. She wears a white pearl necklace. She has a long sky blue whale tail, it starts to gain an ethereal shimmer to it near the flukes, gaining colors like light pinks and whites, it has thin light blue ribbons going across the length of the tail in random patterns, it has a light blue bow tied on the point where the flukes touch the end of the tail, it has 2 ribbons that hand a little lower than the ending of the bow. There is a gold star with a gold chain dangling from the bow. She wears a white princess tiara with a sideways crescent moon design in the middle and a star above it. Her outfit consists of a mainly white swimsuit design there is a white lace x design that goes over the area just below her neck that goes down the backside of her neck, loops back around and goes around her arms, where there is a short, thin white transparent frilly lace connected that wraps around her arms, it gets longer as it goes around to her back, before slowly shortening and ending in a bow. Her bra is white with a sea shell design then has a lace on both bra’s that falls below it with the same design, only a few inches in length, almost like a super super short dress that goes around her back, and also ends in the same bow as her arm lace things. Under the bra’s short design, is a transparent light cyan thin dress that gradients to a normal blue color with a white outline around the whole thing with white thin white lines going down it, the ends are frilly, however, it’s only the left and right sides of the dress, the front and back are not covered, the two sides of the dress are fully separated and not touching or connected. She wears white latex panties. She wears white fish net thigh highs with the tops of them having the same white shell design being solid, then going to normal fishnet thigh high design. There is a thin white latex circle around her upper waist, with 2 other thin white latex straps connecting her thigh highs to it, with a golden sea shell design to strap it on, there is a smaller gold star dangling from the gold sea shell. She wears white fingerless gloves with a small gold dot, and the endings slope down until they end. The X thing around her neck also has a semi circle attached to both lines, with a gold star dangling from the center.

Her yandere form has long light pink hair with the same thick 'bangs' but with red symbol markings on them.

Bao's YouTube channel was originally created on 23 August 2014. Her Twitch channel was created on 21 December 2015, and made only a small number of streams in 2018 and 2019.

Prior to becoming a VTuber, Bao produced music from 2015 to 2020 under the name . The name would continue to be reflected in her social media accounts as she decided to become a VTuber. Bao pursued various VTuber concepts, including a clown, before settling on a whale.

On 11 August, Bao announced that she was verified on YouTube. She first teased her Live2D model on Twitter on 30 September 2020 and released a debut trailer on her YouTube channel on 16 October 2020. Bao originally found the design on Pinterest and purchased it, where it was revamped by hayamafair. The final model was illustrated by hayamafair, aruchelli and rigged by Brian Tsui.

Bao made her VTuber debut stream on YouTube on 30 October 2020.

• Bao's design and first song as a VTuber, "52-Hearts," is based on the 52-hertz whale and was helped in its production by PrettyPatterns and Dictate.
• Bao's lore video was animated by her friend T3VY, and the Japanese script was made by Datenkou.
• Her background music was also made by Cha Latte in 2 days, who also mixed her lore video.

Bao was born from seafoam and is a long-lived whale deity and to her knowledge, the last of her kind. She had explored all the oceans and lived through many wars. As a result, she was very lonely and longed for someone to listen to her voice.
