Matara Kan

Matara is known as "mom" or “auntie” by her fans due to her doting, supportive behavior. Other VTubers generally regard her as a trustworthy person who will lend an ear to their troubles. Her streams have a reputation among viewers for a comfy, healing atmosphere.

From time to time, Matara presents herself as a "boomer” who is not very well-versed with the Internet, such as claiming to still use Internet Explorer as her main browser or prefixing the names of social media websites with "the" (e.g. "the Facebooks", "the TikToks", etc.)

Despite her nurturing personality, Matara also has a cunning, borderline sadistic side to her.

She possesses multiple insect-like claws and antennae. She has long pink hair with blunt bangs and other shades of pink streaks with orangey eyes with long lashes and markings underneath one of her eyes. She wears a pink dress that shows her cleavage in the middle and a golden brooch pin with dark pink jewels in the shape of a cockroach. She has skeletal insect legs without shoes.

The Twitter and YouTube accounts for Matara Kan were registered on 1 September 2023.

The announcement of a new insect-themed VTuber was teased on the VShojo Twitter account beginning on 8 October, with a series of live-action black and white news reports, a brief animation titled "Something Wicked This Way Comes," and a B-movie style poster for "Attack of the Cockroach Woman."

On 12 October, her name was announced, along with a debut date. Her Twitch channel already had partner status by this date, and reached 5,000 followers within around four hours of the announcement. Prior to debut, she released some short teaser videos on her YouTube channel. She was so nervous the night before the debut that she slept for only two hours.

She debuted on Twitch on 15 October 2023 at 3:30PM PT or 6:30PM ET. She reached over 25,000 followers and over 1,000 subscriber points by the start of the debut stream, which at peak was attended by 44,578 viewers. By stream end, she reached over 42,000 followers and over 3,600 sub points.

It was followed at 8:15 ET by the release of a music video on YouTube, 【REMIX】DECO*27 - Zombies x Rob Zombie - Dragula 【MATARA KAN - VSHOJO】 by DECO*27. It is a mashup of DECO*27's Zombies, a Vocaloid song with Japanese lyrics; and Rob Zombie's 1998 single Dragula.
