The YouTube channel for the duo Rummy and Coqui, founding members of the South Side Skinks, was created on 11 November 2020. Becoming a VTuber was originally Coqui's idea; reportedly, Rummy agreed immediately, then asked what a VTuber was.
The pair officially debuted together on YouTube on 9 December 2020, although the video is no longer available. The earliest video on their YouTube channel is a stream of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes.
Rummy's Live2D model was illustrated by Rem, the character designer for River City Girls, and rigged by Artemiz.

On 7 February, Rummy and Coqui released an original visual novel, Valenskinks Day.
On 29 March, Rummy created her own Twitch channel, "RummyTheBoss."

By the end of 2024, Coqui challenged Rummy to a game of Dress to Impress, with the title of boss being on the line. Coqui then won the title, but then used her new power to keep Rummy from re-aquiring the boss title. A back and forth power struggle has been going on since.
