Shadow is a shy, yandere girl who lives alone in her cabin in the forest. Her personality is that of a cute little sister, but she can be possessive and pushy. She likes ribbons, chocolate, and dolls, as well as pretty girls, cute things, and all things dark and spooky. Chocolate is her favorite food. She also likes drawing, baking, writing and storytelling.

Shadow is a petite girl with short, purple hair that is long in front, decorated with a ribbon. She has pink eyes. She wears a black dress with many ribbons, including a darker shade around her neck, and a white ruffle and dark ribbon on either wrist. She accessorizes with a chocolate styled bag.

She has a ribbon choker and ribbon that goes down her left arm and down her right leg, contrasted with a grey thigh high sock, and black shoes. She can also be seen wearing a cloak with a hoodie that is also adorned with a ribbon.

Fallenshadow's fans are collectively called "fallen" and are represented on stream with an avatar called (YOU) that is a black silhouette in the shape of a humanoid.

While there is no official design, the avatar has picked up common identifying traits. It is typically depicted with a horned helmet that is associated with romanticized imaginings of Vikings. The avatar also frequently has a simple expression drawn in white and the word (YOU) written on the chest or other part of the body. Often the avatar wears a suit and tie or no clothing at all.

The parentheses in (YOU) are a part of the avatar's name. The effect of the rules of grammar on the name (YOU) are frequently debated with no clear answer; for instance, whether (YOUR) or (YOU)'s is the proper possessive form.

On 8 August 2016, fallenshadow created her original YouTube channel, where she began to post ASMR content. She often created and drew original characters for her ASMR videos.

Shondo began to take interest in VTubers in 2019. She was encouraged by other ASMR creators in the VTuber sphere to become a VTuber herself. She designed her own original VTuber character named Shadow, based mainly on her real-life appearance, and drawing inspiration from anime characters including Saya from horror visual novel Saya no Uta, Rika from Higurashi: When They Cry, and Kinomoto Sakura from classic magical girl anime Cardcaptor Sakura.

Prior to debuting as a VTuber, she made a number of livestreams on YouTube in 2020. On 5 September 2020 she created her Twitch account, originally named fallenshadowasmr.

On 23 March 2021 she created the fallenshadowtwitch YouTube channel for VODs, clips and highlights of her upcoming Twitch streams.

* Shadow is part of Twitch team Barbie Girls, a group of friends including Nina Saotome, SoyaPoya, vividlyVIVI, Olivia Monroe, Kitanya_Is_Here, Inis, and previously Abigail Dovely. All appear as plush toys in her July 2024 room set, as well as Alice Sawyer and Lily Hopkins.
* She is also good friends with fellow VTubers SilviMikazuki, BabyPinkASMR, and MysticalPixal. She refers to Vivi as her oldest friend, both and in length of friendship and in terms of age.
* She is part of "Slice of Wife," with Alice Sawyer and Lily Hopkins.

* Shadow was a lonely, formless creature who lived in a world devoid of hope. So it slept, going millennia without conscious thought, awoken only by pangs of hunger. It took on the appearance of the creatures whose life force it consumed to sustain itself, returning to the void until its body began to decay, and repeating the process.
* Once, the creature awoke from a long slumber to discover an intriguing new species of beautiful creatures had arisen: humans. They feared and shunned the creature in all her forms, so she watched them from afar and learned their culture. Their presence filled her with warmth, a feeling for which she discovered a name: LOVE.
* The humans continued to reject the creature, but this only made her love stronger. She took the body of a girl with a loving family and friends, learning a new feeling: HAPPINESS.
* However, it still needed to feed to maintain its form, and once again the creature was cast out by humans who feared it. Over time, people became less fearful of supernatural beings, and the creature was able to take up a lonely residence at the edge of human society.
* As she lived as an impostor among humans, the creature struggled to understand the humans' destructive tendencies toward each other and nature, and her hatred for humanity grew. As humanity grew into industrial age and congregated in cities, she used the opportunity feed on the most wretched of humans, assuming an innocent form to lure victims. The creature also found herself unworthy of life, but was unable to end her existence.
* Once, she met a girl who begged her to save her sister, who was dying of a stab wound, offering herself in exchange. The creature agreed, but only if the girl could gaze upon the creature's true form without screaming, something which had never happened before. The girl was terrified, but kept quiet for her sister. The creature consumed the girl, who became part of the creature. She saved the sister as promised, but the girl's act of kindness left the creature confused and changed.
* Alone and confused, the creature ran for days, nearly dying in the woods. She awoke by a fireplace, in a woodland cabin wrapped in a blanket, with a mysterious shadow person in the corner of the room. The shadow person feared the creature, but they soon came to realize that they were alike, and became friends, living together in the cabin. She learned to forgive herself for what she was born to be.
* Because of her location in the forest, creatures also living there can be heard in the background of her streams.
* Her wrists and neck are always covered. Shondo takes this rule seriously in fanart. Canonically, she is entirely flat-chested.

* Her favorite games include Undertale, and most recently Omori, which she first played through on her stream. She also enjoys The Sims 2 and 3, Stardew Valley, Clannad, Ib, SOMA, and Corpse Party. She likes cute games, spooky games, and RPG Maker games.

* Before she debuted her official Live2D model, she drew and rigged her own temporary model. She also made a Halloween outfit of herself as a witch.
* She appears to be left-handed.
* She is the VTuber "mama" of Tybernation, who provides music for her lore videos.
* Her nickname, Shondo, comes from pronouncing Shadow in a funny way.
* She claims to have a shoe size of 2 (UK) and a ring size of H (UK).
* In her 3D chibi model debut, she claimed to weigh 2,000,000 kilograms.
* She voice acts a male persona, "Barry," an overweight 40 year old man from Birmingham, England. Barry works at a construction site, has a wife (who he hates) and a son, and loves soccer. A running joke is that Barry is her real identity and Shondo is just using a voice changer to sound like a girl. This isn't true, though, it's just voice acting.
* Barry officially made an on-stream Live2D debut on 2 August 2025.
* Like many VTubers, Shondo usually keeps her Live2D model in the bottom-right corner of the screen when gaming. During a Dark Souls stream in January 2026, Shondo temporarily moved it to the left, to avoid obscuring the souls counter. As a joke, viewers began referring to Left Shondo as a separate person, demanding to know where Right Shondo went.
* She misspells "nice" as "nise." This is cute, so nobody correct her.

Shadow, a formless creature living in a void, awakens only to feed by taking on the appearance of the beings it consumes. Discovering humans, Shadow becomes fascinated with their culture and experiences love and happiness, though she is still rejected by them.

Over time, Shadow grows resentful of humanity's destructive nature, preying on the worst of them. After a girl sacrifices herself for her sister, Shadow is changed by the kindness. Lost and confused, Shadow finds companionship with a shadow person in the woods (YOU) and learns to forgive herself, living a quiet life in a cabin.
