At the beginning of August, a rumor spread in the VTuber community that Manta was secretly the popular VTuber Filian, who had disappeared in December 2025, leaving puzzles for her community to solve as part of an elaborate ARG. Similarities between the two included a chaotic, high-energy voice, and the use of advanced motion tracking.
On 10 August, Manta reached 10,000 Twitch followers.
Manta denied the rumours, pointing out that she is her own person and possesses a distinct accent. To prove that she wasn't Filian, she attempted to perform a backflip—a signature physical move that Filian is known for—claiming that the way she flipped would definitively prove they were different people. This resulted in the model temporarily breaking its neck.
On 25 August, a video released by Drumsy helped to popularize the conspiracy theory. The video reached over a million views and was in turn noticed by other VTubers. One day later, Manta reached 20,000 Twitch followers. She even began playing into the joke after being offered 200 subs to admit she was Filian.
On 28 August, she reached 50,000 YouTube subscribers, up from 1,660 the previous month.
