Nimi Nightmare

Nimi has a soft, caring attitude and a gentle demeanor. She rarely swears or loses her temper, and prefers comfy games to violent ones. She has a soft and slow-paced voice that is easy to listen to. She cares a great deal for animals.

Nimi Nightmare has green eyes, blonde hair, and tapir ears. She wears a green dress with a nametag pinned on her chest, and wears white tights. She also has a mole on the bottom left part of her belly. Her pipe has spirit effects coming out of it occasionally.

On 10 August 2024, the Nimi Nightmare Twitter account was created. It was inactive until 3 January 2025, when its Twitter profile picture changed to a silhouette, and its profile description read "???". At the same time, a YouTube channel previously used by ASMR VTuber LemonLeaf changed its username to @niminightmare shortly after achieving 300,000 subscribers.

The name Nimi was chosen to sound cute and alliterate with the surname Nightmare. It was decided quite early on, and didn't mean anything in particular. "Nimi" was chosen to be a cute name, and one which was not be received as too "chuuni" or overly grandiose. Despite this, her surname is Nightmare.

On 14 January 2025, she made her first tweet, "konbakuwa! ⸜( *ˊ ᵕ ˋ* )⸝". The following day, she also opened a Bluesky account, and made her VTuber debut announcement.

Her debut stream took place on YouTube on 17 January 2025 at 3 PM PST / 6 PM EST. She initially debuted in chibi form, with a full model forthcoming in the future. She also released a set of merch, including a 12.5" plush, stickers, and signed cards. The merch sold out almost instantly, and the plush and stickers were quickly re-released on a pre-order basis.

• Her fanbase officially goes by the name "Naplings". ** They are represented by ghost-like nightmare creatures. * Her mascot is a tapir. * She has two black cats who appear on stream, named Luna and Artemis. Luna is the green-eyed cat, and Artemis the yellow-eyed one. ** They are based on two real stray kittens who she adopted in March 2025. They are brother and sister.

• Nimi is a baku, a mythological tapir-like creature believed to eat nightmares. * She has a special pipe which absorbs nightmares. She became addicted to video games and forgot to capture any nightmares for years, which weakened her until she shrank to 10 cm in height. ** In April 2025, she finally consumed enough nightmares to return to her full height of 158 cm or 5'2". * She is also a "nurse." She opened the Nimi Wellness Center to find patients whose nightmares she can consume. * She has four ears: the baku ears on the top of her head, and human-like ears at the sides of her head.

• She is vegan.
• Her favorite ice cream flavors are strawberry and chocolate chip cookie dough. She prefers vanilla to chocolate. She also likes mint.
• She prefers dark chocolate to milk chocolate.
• She likes the taste of Nintendo Switch cartridges.

• The first four Twitter accounts Nimi followed were Isabelle from Animal Crossing, Nintendo of America, and two Hatsune Miku accounts.
• Her cat is named Baby Bean. Sadly, he died on 9 March 2025.
• There was speculation that Nimi would join VShojo, after the group tweeted an envelope emoji the day before her debut. However, it was confirmed that she was debuting as an independent. VShojo's new member instead turned out to be AmaLee.
• She is going to do an ASMR content and roleplays, but they will be posted on the channel under her LemonLeaf persona. Nimi Nightmare will remain her main channel.
• She is 63.2% British & Irish, 33.7% French & German and 0.2% Finnish by ancestry.
• Her full-size model illustrator, Tōsaka Asagi, is also the illustrator of several other VTubers, including NIJISANJI member Shishido Akari, VSPO! member Aizawa Ema, VEE member Kokuyou Lira, Phase-Connect member Wilhelmina Frost, indie VTuber Kurokiri Aria and hololive graduate Ceres Fauna.
• Her chibi model has white spots on the ears, while the fully-grown model doesn't. This is because real life, only baby tapirs have white dots, which they lose in adulthood.
• Before she chose the name Nimi Nightmare, she considered the name Estella Somnium. She came up with the name several years before her debut, and would have represented a purple character rather than her iconic green color. The name Estella was inspired by her love of stars and the character Estella from the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations. Somnium was partly a reference to the 2019 game AI: The Somnium Files and refers to sleep or dreams, a theme which she would ultimately use with Nimi Nightmare.
