Background
Hayate originally began as a male VTuber. His original YouTube channel and Twitter account were both created on 10 May 2020. His 30 second introduction video was posted the following day, introducing him as an "oshigoto-kei VTuber" (work-style VTuber), with a Live2D model.
Hayate (male) produced a number of videos, but never achieved much success. A new YouTube channel was quietly registered on 11 October 2020. In a final livestream to celebrate his six month streaming anniversary on 11 November 2020, he announced a new role as "producer" of new female VTuber, "Hayate-chan" (full name also Hayate Takanashi). The original channel retired a few days later.
Hayate-chan's introduction video premiered on the new YouTube channel on 11 November 2020. A Twitter account for Hayate-chan was created on the same day.

Hayate 3.0
Hayate's 3.0 model is an updated version of her 1.0 and 2.0 model, carrying over most of their base elements into the updated design.
Hayate has green-blue short hair with blunt bangs and wears a dark blue hairband with two flower hair pins. She has aquamarine colored-eyes, and GOOD sized booba. She wears a white open shoulder dress with dark blue, gold, and blue marine highlights, a blue ribbon with golden pear flower pin, a red-brown skirt with pear flowers on it, dark blue tights with four point stars lining the left and right sides, and brown shoes.
Hayate 4.0
Hayate's hair color changed from the usual green-blue into a light pink with green-blue highlights. Her hair is also longer and in twintails style. With the exception of her knee-high socks, she now wears an all-black outfit with pink and green-blue colors serving as highlights. She wears a black removable jacket, a black, sleeveless blouse paired with a black skirt with a black belt, as well as black arm sleeves, black shoes, a black arm band on her left arm, and black ribbon on her hair.

In January, Hayate took a break from streaming for the entire month, having moved to a new house and preparing new set ups for her streaming and cooking equipment.

On 8 April, Hayate debuted her 4.0 model. Most notably, her hair color has changed from teal green to lilac with teal streaks, and is now worn in a twintails hairstyle. She also changed her channel's name to Hayate Kitchen.
