Kiara is enthusiastic, energetic, passionate, and friendly, and is open with her feelings. She cares strongly for her friends and family, and misses them a great deal while she is abroad. She has seemingly no trouble holding a conversation with other talents, both within and outside of hololive. Kiara has no problem taking the lead in collaborations, and performing as host whenever the situation calls for it. Her energetic personality is also prevalent in her original songs, most notably SPARKS and HINOTORI, as they both have fast-paced beats and lyrics that feature an encouraging and positive message.

Although energetic and sometimes chaotic in nature, and eager to collab with other members, she is secretly quite shy. She is sometimes bird-brained, being forgetful or having a short attention span. She prefers video games with fixed goals, such as RPGs, rather than open-world games like Minecraft.

Kiara is very fond of her genmates, and regularly mentions and commends them for their hard work, both on-stream and on social media. While her relationship with Mori Calliope may be described as flirtatious in nature, their interactions continue to reinforce the trust and comradely spirit between the two. Her fanbase is no different, as the KFP have regularly been subjects of her gratitude for their support, while also playfully experiencing her frustration by getting sent to "The Usual Room".

On a graph ranking members in purity and intelligence, Kiara was rated "bottom left"—maximum lewd and foolish, much to her bemusement. However, she often surprises viewers with moments of gentleness, compassion, and insightful wisdom.

Watson Amelia, in her debut stream, described Kiara as having a "positive attitude and lovely voice." Mori Calliope described her as a hard worker and an incredible singer with a great personality, and praised her fluency with Japanese.

Appearance

She has medium-length coral hair that fades into a teal green with similarly colored shiny feathery earrings and magenta eyes. She has a greenish bow ribbon around her neck and wears a mostly orange uniform. She has a small white chef's hat and a red beret that has a black bow with white stars on it.

Background

Takanashi Kiara was a fan of hololive before auditioning herself. She first heard of hololive when she discovered Shirakami Fubuki, and subsequently became such an avid fan of Usada Pekora that she boasted she had watched all of her YouTube videos. After many setbacks in life, Kiara unluckily emigrated to Japan on a one-time visa just before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, leaving her without any work and preventing her from visiting her homeland.

On 23 April 2020, following the success of the Japanese-language hololive VTuber group, Cover Corporation announced auditions for English-speaking members. The initial round of auditions ran until 24 May.

Kiara learned about the holoEN auditions after they had already begun, and entered about halfway through the audition period. She wrote a script for her audition in a Word document in the space of two hours in a burst of inspiration. She recorded a number of takes for a song cover. She received a reply a few days later. She made it through to a second and third round of auditions, both of which involved phone calls. Kiara was able to prepare for the third round by successfully estimating what would be asked of her, and credits her talent for creativity for helping her to think on the spot. Although she did not expect to be selected at first, she describes her confidence in her skillset as a factor in her success.

The members of -Myth- began training around June 2020, three months before their debut.

Kiara's YouTube channel and Twitter accounts were created on 16 July. Behind the scenes, her Live2D model was the last of the five Myth members to be completed, only around three days before debut.

On 8 September 2020, Takanashi Kiara was first revealed in a short promotional video alongside the other four members of hololive -Myth-. A simultaneous announcement was made at the hololive Twitter account, and the hololive English Twitter account. She made her first tweet later that day.

Debut

Kiara made her debut stream on 12 September 2020. She was the second member of hololive -Myth- to debut. Her debut stream opened with a storybook animation narrated by Mori Calliope. She was extremely nervous at the beginning of the stream, during which spoke English, Japanese and German. She ended the stream by singing hololive anthem Shiny Smily Story, promising to make Yagoo's dream come true, a reference to the founder's initial vision of hololive as an idol agency.

Mascot and fans

  • Kiara's mascot is named Kotori. Although the holoMyth mascots were initially revealed at debut, Kotori did not receive its name until the six-month Don't Starve collab stream, when the upcoming holoMyth mascot plushies were announced. The name Kotori is based on the kanji in Takanashi; the first two kanji,「小鳥」, are normally read "kotori," meaning "little bird."
  • Kiara previously requested names for her mascot in a Minecraft stream, in which she began building her mascot on top of the chicken coop. Chat's original suggestion for the mascot's name was Colonel Kernel. Rejected names included Kicky Ricky.
  • Like the rest of the -Myth- mascots with the exception of Bloop, Kotori was designed by Ninomae Ina'nis.
  • Her fanbase are known as KFP. It stands for Kiara Fried Phoenix, the fast food franchise of which she is the CEO.
  • Her fanbase was originally called the "Kiara Fan Club." She requested to write the name without abbreviation so she can actually find things related to her.
  • Previously suggested fan group names at Kiara's debut were "chickens;" "fushitomo," 「不死友」, meaning "eternal friends," as in "fushichou," "phoenix;" and "fannix," 「ファンニックス」, a portmanteau of "fan" and "phoenix."
  • Members are referred to as "employees" and their promotion is represented by stages of a farm chicken's life. They refer to Kiara as "Tenchou" (manager). Many assign themselves positions within the company, which appear at the end of their usernames. Examples include KFP Janitor, KFP Delivery Driver, KFP Ceiling Fan, and KFP Workers' Comp Parasite.
  • When angry at her employees, Kiara is known to threaten to fire them. In December 2020, Kiara threatened to send misbehaving employees to "the usual room," which has been implied to contain a literal chopping block intended for those who never leave to be turned into food. An employee subsequently changed their name to KFP Usual Room Guard.
  • Kiara has two phoenix cats, called Chonkers (orange) and Smoothie (turquoise).
  • Smoothie and Chonkers appear as an acessory to some of her Live2D models, such as her November 2025 outfit.

  • Kiara is a phoenix, a mythical fire bird creature who revives if killed.
  • In her introduction, her backstory stated that she would be reborn in a different dimension every time she dies. However, on 10 December 2020 during her "re-debut" stream, Kiara claimed to have mastered revival, as she was reborn again in the same dimension, which is fine by her as long as Calli is there.
  • Her belt can turn her back into her phoenix form; as such, she is prohibited from using it.
  • Kiara's hair can ignite when she's angry. In school, she would handle this by running to the bathroom and dunking her head in the toilet. She can control this better as an adult. Her belt helps prevent this from happening.
  • Kiara has €500,000 in debt from unpaid fines for accidentally setting off fire alarms. Despite this, she managed to secure investment to launch KFP by just not telling anyone.
  • In her previous lives, Kiara has held many jobs, including a shrine maiden, an idol, a race car driver, an air hostess, a personal trainer, and a warrior.
  • Once, in a previous life, Kiara died after being hit by a train.
  • Kiara's blue feather "earrings" are in fact not earrings, but feathers which come from behind her ears. However, she also has a small blue stud piercing in her left ear.
  • Kiara's ear feathers are phoenix down, which can revive the dead. During an off-collab with Kobo Kanaeru in 2023, Kiara admitted that she had used up her phoenix down, and had to wait for them to regrow. In the meantime, she has been wearing fake phoenix feather earrings that she bought on Amazon.
  • According to her introduction video, Kiara was born in a time before humans lived on Earth. This makes her potentially the oldest hololive member at the time of her debut, at least several hundred thousand to several million years old depending on the definition of "human" in the evolutionary tree.
  • Potentially older members include Ceres Fauna (4.54 billion years old), Tsukumo Sana (13.8 billion years old), Ouro Kronii (infinity), and Mori Calliope (who is the personification of an abstract concept and has no date of birth).
  • However, as Kiara is technically reborn every few centuries, it could be argued that Kiara was only born relatively recently.
  • Following her re-debut on 10 December 2020 JST, Kiara officially died and was reborn, technically making her the youngest hololive member at age 0. Himemori Luna was arguably joint youngest at age 0, but she would still be older than Kiara by two months until Luna's next 0th birthday of 10 October 2021.
  • Phoenixes live longer than humans. In Kiara's April 1st stream, Come closer and listen, youngling..., a grandma Kiara (nicknamed Kibaba) had lived for over 3,000 years. hololive had closed down by this point after being shut down by a mysterious organization.
  • Predictions made by Kibaba included hololive Myth meeting in Japan (her favorite memory) and wearing matching pajamas (Kiara's idea), her original album, a holomyth concert featuring a very emotional slow version of Journey of a Thousand Years, and a Kiara solo live concert.
  • Future Kibaba has a second house for her 231 cats, including a new cat named Bonkers and an alien cat from Mars. Ina is still alive in this timeline and lives near Kiara, who cooks her food so she doesn't just eat cup noodle and sleep on the floor. Ame became part of hololive management before returning to time travel and hang out with aliens. Gura looks more grown-up and became president of Atlantis. Calli left Hell and became an angel instead. Yagoo commutes between Heaven and Hell because he's looking for someone in particular. Kiara saved Jenma's life by giving her one of her phoenix feathers. Twitter still exists in the future after KFP bought it out and changed the blue bird logo into an orange Kotori, but rivals Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram have shut down. The EN Curse is still active, but nobody ever found the cause.
  • Kiara's cats are also phoenix cats.
  • Kiara, as a phoenix who is continuously reborn, always meets Calliope each time she dies. However, it is not within Calliope's power to keep a phoenix in the Underworld.
  • Her sword can slot into her shield. Kiara did not notice this until 2024, when it was depicted in photographs of her own Figma.

Likes and dislikes

  • She likes fast food, adventures and hats. Kiara insists that fast food is healthy, and chicken in particular is very healthy. She claims to eat 53 pieces of chicken per day.
  • Her hobbies include singing, drawing, eating and fighting.
  • She dislikes scary stuff and one-sided feelings (see Takamori).
  • She dislikes Trevor Philips, one of the three protagonists of Grand Theft Auto V due to his psychotic, unstable behavior.
  • Her favorite senior member is Usada Pekora. Pekora noticed Kiara on her introduction stream, leaving her speechless. Kiara has watched every one of Pekora's archived streams. One of Kiara's objectives is to collab with the Japanese members, but especially Pekora. Her collab with Pekora finally happened on 27 November 2020, in which Pekora took Kiara for a tour on the Japanese branch Minecraft server.
  • Kiara's favorite games include the Tales of series, Atelier series, Arknights, Super Mario games, the series, and The Legend of Zelda.

  • Kiara revealed that "bird" language is actually a pun that only works in Japanese. The Japanese for "trilingual," 「トリリンガル」, begins with "tori," meaning "bird."
  • Kiara is from Austria, a small German-speaking country in Europe.
  • As a running gag, she would claim to be from "Australia" and wink. In January 2022, she ended the "Australia" joke, partly because many viewers incorrectly believed she was actually from Australia. The history of the Australia meme is detailed in the video 【KFP 101】Ep. 01: AUSTRALIA.
  • Kiara was the first non-native English speaker to join hololive EN, followed by Banzoin Hakka (Spanish), Cecilia Immergreen (German), and Raora Panthera (Italian).

  • Kiara is the first hololive member ever to have her channel terminated and then restored.

  • Despite this, at debut, she was depicted wielding her sword in her right hand. Later works officially depict her wielding it in her left hand. During the 2024 ENigmatic Recollection Minecraft event, Kiara opted to equip her sword in her right hand to avoid confusion.

  • Kiara mentioned that she has a sister who is aware of her VTuber activities as after Kiara played The Sims 4 on stream, her sister sent her a meme about her.
  • She uploaded her first meme video on 3 January 2021, even though she said once that she isn't the type to make these kind of videos.
  • Kiara is currently the hololive English member with the most collabs due to her good Japanese speaking skills.

  • The chicken drumsticks which Kiara sometimes holds are plastic props, not real food.
  • In April 2022 she got a grey pet raccoon (tanuki) named Bonkers. Bonkers appeared on Kiara's Easter egg painting stream on 17 April 2022, where she was mistaken by some viewers for a cat after jumping on the table. However, Kiara's cats are orange and green. Fanart of Bonkers appeared almost immediately.
  • Although Kiara's art hashtag was originally #artsofashes (i.e. arts plural), fans often misspelled it #artofashes. The hashtag was later changed to #KFPicasso due to spam.
  • She hates the font Comic Sans.
  • At her old apartment building, a bulk packet of Ritter Sport chocolate was eaten by a mouse, who she named Casper. A mousehole for Casper later appeared in her KFP office background. The story of Casper was recorded in 【KFP 101】Ep. 02: Casper.
  • After winning at Mario Kart, Kiara declared she had been "making kfp proud since 9000 BCE," implying that she has been a kart racer for over 11,000 years. The earliest known archaeological evidence for wheeled vehicles appears in the Halaf culture of 6500 to 5100 BCE, found at a site which also featured stonework depicting a winged humanoid goddess around the 10th century BC.
  • Kiara frequently goes off on tangents during her superchat reading streams, effectively turning them into "zatsudan" or "Just Chatting" streams.

2020

On 20 September, Kiara celebrated 200,000 YouTube subscribers.

On 11 October, one month after her debut, Kiara celebrated 300,000 YouTube subscribers.

On 16 October, Kiara held her first collaboration with Japanese hololive, playing Untitled Goose Game with Oozora Subaru. This was the first collaboration ever between hololive EN and main hololive.

On 24 October, Kiara held her second collaboration with a Japanese hololive member, Momosuzu Nene. They did a special concert live stream where they sang karaoke songs together.

On 29 October, Kiara celebrated 400,000 YouTube subscribers.

On 18 November, Kiara announced her new talk show, "HOLOTALK with Takanashi Kiara," which includes work from her sound designer and an introduction video being made by Watson Amelia. She also announced the release of her first original single "HINOTORI," with cover art by her illustrator Huke and an upcoming music video by Mori Calliope. She also announced a voice pack. Both the voice pack and single were due for release on 26 November.

On 20 November, she held the first episode of her show "HOLOTALK with Takanashi Kiara" with Houshou Marine as her first guest.

On 22 November, following feedback to staff, Kiara received a model update giving minor improvements to her chest and mouth expressions, such as allowing a small "o"-shaped mouth. Kiara was surprised that she could now make a surprised expression.

On 23 November, she reached 500,000 YouTube subscribers during a "karaoke til 500k subs" stream, making her the 23rd hololive member to reach this milestone. She hit 500k before finishing her second song. Coincidentally, Murasaki Shion reached that same threshold earlier that day.

On 26 November, she released her first original song, HINOTORI.

On 9 December, Kiara's channel was suddenly terminated by YouTube, apparently in error. Kiara declared that she would revive soon, and requested memes commemorating the occasion with the hashtag #PhoenixDown. This was the first time a hololive account had been terminated by YouTube. Around six hours later, the channel was restored.

On 10 December at 05:00 UTC (9 December US time), Kiara held a "re-debut" stream attended by over 30,000 viewers in which Kiara faithfully recreated her original debut stream with a few differences, claiming to have lost her memory. She addressed holoEN members as "senpai" (senior) and even forgot who Calli was. By the end of the stream she recovered her memory and commented on her temporary account termination. Amelia Watson later said she really admired Kiara for her clever handling of the situation, which turned a setback into something positive.

On 12 December, she reached 600,000 subscribers on YouTube.

2021

On 10 January, Kiara reached 700,000 subscribers on YouTube, during an endurance singing stream.

On 7 February, Kiara announced her second single, "Heart Challenger," which was released on 14 February to coincide with Valentine's Day. She reached 800,000 YouTube subscribers on the same day.

Late in February, Kiara's channel was temporarily shadowbanned by YouTube, and did not appear in search results and subscribers did not receive stream notifications. She took a short break from streaming to return to her home country. The shadowban was resolved on 4 March, and on 5 March she performed a German-language "HoloDE Debüt" stream in which she performed a German version of HINOTORI.

On 1 April, all holoMyth members revealed new chibi models based on popular fan designs by Walfie.

On 10 April, Kiara reached 900,000 subscribers on YouTube during another karaoke marathon.

On 30 April, hololive's Twitter account announced that every member of holoMyth would get their second 2D costumes.

On 4 May, Kiara debuted her second 2D costume, in this costume Kiara has her hair styled as braided twintails, she claims that she dyed the green in her hair to blend with humans better but couldn't change the color completely. She wears a translucent white blouse and handcuffs complemented with a green swimsuit, on her neck she wears a shocker that is a miniature version of her badge that allows her to transform into her phoenix form, Kiara also wears blue shorts. The outfit also includes a straw hat, shades, a brown bag with emblems of the holoMyth members, a pink pacifier and cat ears and tail that she claims came from living with cats.

On 30 May, just before her 12 hour marathon Kiara reached 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers, making her the 16th hololive member to reach that milestone and the 5th and last member of holoMyth to reach it, making holoMyth the first generation where every member has reached 1 million subs.

On 16 June, she collaborated with Nyatasha Nyanners in the first ever hololive x VShojo collab, which was streamed on both YouTube and Twitch. The event attracted a peak total of around 40,000 viewers across both sites.

On 6 July, Kiara celebrated her birthday with a birthday stream in which she released new merchandise. During that stream she also announced her third original song "SPARKS," which was released later on the same day on her YouTube channel.

On 12 September, during Myth's 1 year anniversary celebration, the group revealed their official logo and announced that every member would get their third 2D costumes.

On 31 October, -Myth- debuted their first original song "Myth or Treat" during a Halloween collab with every hololive EN member attending. The song lyrics were written by Calli. The official video of the song was later debuted that same day on Amelia's channel.

On 25 November, Kiara's Twitter account became verified.

On 30 November, Kiara got a new accessory for her second 2D costume as she can know wear her mascot Kotori on top of her headband, Kiara claims that Kotori is claustrophobic and because of this, she can't combine Kotori with any other head accessories.

On 12 December, Kiara debuted her third 2D costume. In this costume Kiara's hair has a darker shade of orange, the tips of her locks are purple to pink in color, near the end of her hair she retains some shades of blue, her phoenix feathers that are behind her ears that previously reached only to her shoulders now go down to her chest and darker blue in color these feathers are decorated with golden small ornaments, to the left of her head she has a big golden ornament that looks like wings, to the right she has a small golden hat similar to her white hat in her main outfit, Kiara claims that the change in color of her hair is due to her changes in mood. Her dress is of a dark red tone, from the neck to the chest area the dress is made of black transparent fabric decorated with a golden ornament that has the shape of a phoenix flying, the chest of the dress is decorated by a dark purple ribbon and another one is tied around her waist. Kiara use black see throught tights that fade away as they go down, there are two pairs of golden ornaments just above and below her knees. The outfit includes a blue feathers shaped shawl and a golden mask for Kiara to wear, Kiara can still use previous animations such as holding her sword and shield.

2022

On 6 January, hololive's Twitter account announced that both Myth and Council members would get new year costumes.

On 9 January, Kiara debuted her fourth 2D costume, a kimono to celebrate the new year. In this costume Kiara got two new hairstyle using long twintails, the tips of her twintails are yellow, in the other hairstyle Kiara has really long loose hair, in this version the gradient goes from yellow to green, she uses a white flower to her left side. In this costume Kiara actually wear golden earrings that look like her phoenix feathers, Kiara claims that she hid her feathers into her hair. Her kimono is mostly white with orange edges, the kimono has a pattern of flowers with phoenixes and butterflies flying. The is pink and turquoise in color with a big pink ribbon with a star pattern to the right side. Kiara can also wear pink wings, she can hold a fan in her right hand. The fan features the image of a white chicken from the side, with what appears to be an apron similar to Kiara's original clothes, below there are multiple chicken buckets and bonzai trees.

The same day, holoMyth debuted their second original song, "Journey Like a Thousand Years."

On 20 March, Kiara debuted her 3D model during "hololive 3rd fes. Link Your Wish" day 2.

On 28 May, she debuted her fourth original song "Fever Night."

On 4 June, as part of her appearance at Dokomi 2022, she announced that she would get her fifth 2D costume.

On 11 June, Kiara debuted her fifth 2D costume to celebrate her channel reaching 1,000,000 subscribers. In this costume Kiara got a new hairstyle using two braids around her head. Kotori is on top of her head along with their boyfriend/girlfriend. There are multiple different flowers decorating her hair. In this costume Kiara wears a with a green corset decorated with a flower pattern and white straps and a skirt in the same color as the corset. On top of her skirt Kiara wears a light green apron with multiple patterns as decorations including small white hearts. The apron is tied to the right site by a striped ribbon. Kiara also has the option to wear a light brown blazer and move her arms and hands with various poses.

Also on this date Kiara announced that she would open a secondary channel where she would only upload/stream content in German.

On 28 June, on Amelia's channel, -Myth- held their first off collab, where every member was present.

On 6 July, Kiara reached 1 million Twitter followers shortly before her 3D birthday concert.

On 16 July, she debuted a new hairstyle for her fifth 2D costume. Kiara uses a low ponytail falling from her left shoulder.

On 13 September, Kiara held a German debut stream on her sub-channel. This was her fourth "debut" stream.

On 18 September, Kiara debuted her fifth original song, "DO U."

On 17 October, Kiara debuted a different persona, a new small frog 3D model named "Frogiwawa" or "Frogiara" originally inspired by her "❁am zoo❁" series. Frogiwawa's design is based on a fan art done by Mamaloni that can be seen on Kiara's office. As Frogiwawa she played various frog themed games for that week.

On 22 October, Kiara held a VR collab stream with Pomu Rainpuff of NIJISANJI EN. This was the first ever collab between members of hololive EN and NIJISANJI EN, and had been in the works for over a year. Pomu sang Kiara's first original song HINOTORI, and Kiara sang LazuLight anthem Diamond City Lights.

On 31 December, Kiara appeared as a surprise guest on the hololive New Years countdown show, Yuku Holo Kuru Holo 2022-2023. She revealed a long-awaited upgrade to her 3D model which increased the size of her butt. Kiara remained in Japan into January 2023 and made collabs with multiple members.

2023

On 24 February, Kiara officially debuted her 3D model on her YouTube channel.

On 16 March, Kiara debuted a new hairstyle for her second 2D costume. Her hair fall to her shoulders with braids to the sides. Most of her hair is orange with only small locks being blue. Her bangs are decorated with various hairpins including two representing her cats Chonkers and Smoothie. The hairstyle can be combined with other accessories. She also received reg frame glasses.

On 18 March, Kiara debuted her 3D idol costume during hololive 4th fes. "Our Bright Parade" DAY 1.

On 1 July, as part of the "hololive Summer 2023" event, Kiara debuted her 3D. These are the same designs that Japanese members debuted the previous year.

On 2 July, she participated in "hololive English 1st Concert Connect the World."

On 21 July, Kiara announced on her Twitter account that she would get her sixth 2D costume.

On 23 July, Kiara debuted her sixth 2D costume. Kiara has two hairstyles in one she uses a wavy ponytail falling to the left. In the other Kiara has shorter hair but her side locks are much longer and styled outwards. She wears a black fantasy-style warrior outfit with various elements in blue. She also received a new office.

On 30 July, as part of the "hololive Summer 2023" event, during a karaoke relay, Kiara debuted her 3D swimsuit. The 2023 swimsuits are inspired in a sailor uniform. Members wear a two layered swimsuit, the first layer is blue from the straps going down diagonally to the center where each member has a mostly blue bow but one of the sides and the brooch are in one color representative of each member. The rest of the top is white. The edge has a semi circular cut. The lower piece of the first layer has two variants, one is a two layered blue skirt decorated with a white belt, a golden chain with some decorations hanging from it and a bow to the left and planks to the right. The second version is mostly the same but they wear blue shorts instead of a mini skirt. Kiara uses the shorts. The second layer of the outfit is a matching striped bikini in white and another color depending on the member.

On 12 September, during her third anniversary celebration, Kiara's second 2D model was updated. She can now remove her translucent white blouse making her green swimsuit fully visible.

On 20 September, Kiara reached 1,500,000 subscribers during a karaoke endurance stream. This makes her the 17th hololive member, as well as the 5th member of hololive EN, to reach this milestone. She is the last of her generation to reach it.

On 27 November, Kiara celebrated her 1,000th YouTube video, that number including both video uploads and livestreams. She scheduled an ominous "Important Announcement" premiere, which was ultimately revealed to be a four-second troll clip titled "My 1000thst Video." Hidden messages in the preview thumbnail said "am i american," "back to gym soon," "i ate my smol hat," "if u can read this, pls send help," and "i married my cats." Japanese text said "日本ニキ心配するなネタだよ," meaning "JP bros don't worry, it's a joke."

2024

On 18 January, Kiara announced a three week break, the longest hiatus since her 2020 debut. She resumed her activities on 13 February.

On 22 February, Kiara debuted the white version of her sixth 2D costume.

On 26 March, Kiara debuted a frog-shaped cape for her second 2D costume.

On 5 April, Kiara debuted her sixth solo single, "Chimera."

On 7 June, Kiara's 3D model was updated to the 2.0 version. She also announced that she would get her seventh 2D costume.

On 9 June, Kiara debuted her seventh 2D costume. Her outfit is based on one of the illustrations used in the Fever Night MV by Mamaloni, which have an 80's aesthetic. She uses a high ponytail with a lot of volume and a blue headband. She has hoop earrings. Kiara wears a white leotard with a flower pattern. On top of it she wears a short blue sweater with a KFP logo, the sweater can be used normally or falling from her shoulder revealing her cleavage. Kiara uses either pink or blue metallic leggings and loose socks that can be taken off. Kiara also teased that this costume has a skirt variant but it was not revealed. Kiara also received a new pose to go with this outfit, having her hand resting in her hip in a relaxed pose.

On 31 August, as part of the ENigmatic Recollection project, hololive English members debuted a new accessory for their main 2D costumes. They wear the white and blue cloaks first seen in the project's introduction video and related concept art. The cloak includes a blue gem containing a symbol that represents their affiliated guilds.

On 21 September, Kiara's model was updated to the 2.0 version. New features include the ability to remove her limiter and badge, and more reactive facial expressions.

On 5 October, during the premiere of the "MIRAGE" song MV, Kiara debuted a new 3D costume. Kiara uses a ponytail with turquoise hairpins. The outfit comes in to variants, white and black. She has a turquoise choker and necklace. Kiara wears a strap crop top and adjusted shorts with an opening on the sides, connected with green straps. On her right arm, she uses a long fingerless glove. Kiara wears long boots.

On 6 November, Kiara revealed a different version of her MIRAGE 3D model. Her clothes have an iridescent finish, her top has small angel like wings that can grow and float behind her, she can also use a halo.

On 25 December, Kiara debuted her 3D Santa costume. The costume has two versions, red and white. She also debuted a new 3D winter costume. It features a gray long-sleeved sweater with a turtle neck, underneath a brown sleeveless dress with swamp green ribbons on the sides and a decorative pattern near the bottom edge. She wears gray long socks and red boots. In this outfit, she wears her hair in twintails falling to the front, with a brown beret.

2025

On 4 January, Kiara's main costume was updated to the 3.0 version. Kiara has a lot more movement. New features include the ability to change the appearance of her eyes (sparkly, heart eyes, remove the shine, or become redder), cry, stick out her tongue, wave her hand, use a keyboard, hold a controller, use a drawing tablet, and make emotes such as hearts or an exclamation mark.

On 28 February, Kiara received new variants for her seventh 2D costume that were previously mentioned in the outfit's reveal. Kiara has a new hairstyle, long, wavy hair with a lot of volume. Kiara can wear a pink miniskirt with a golden keychain attached to a blue belt, the skirt can be used on top of the leggins or new fishnets.

On 8 March, she debuted her hololive 6th fes. Color Rise Harmony 3D idol costume during the event's day 1 STAGE 2. The costume has some variants, it can be black or white, complemented with a color representative of the talent. The midriff can be covered or not. One has variant has a skirt while the other uses pants, with one leg exposed. Aside for the design featured in promotional material, the costume also includes a short jacket.

On 1 April, Crabbywawa was introduced as a new character. She shares the same base 3D model as Frogiwawa.

On 20 April, Kiara held her concert KIARA & FRIENDS: H!P Cover Song Spring Concert. Afterwards, Kiara released a new original song PERFUME, during the music video Kiara debuted two new 3D costumes. In the first one Kiara has long, straight hair. Her feather earrings are violet. She wears a shoulderless, pink dress with detached sleeves. The dress has white sakura prints near the lower edges. Kiara uses a white half slip. She uses white socks with pink ribbons and pink heels. The second is a swimsuit designed by Raora Panthera. Kiara uses her hair tied in a ponytail. She wears a blue swimsuit with black transparencies.

On 5 July, Kiara held her concert SUPER SPECIAL SUMMER BIRTHDAY LIVE!. Afterwards, Kiara released a new original song TASTY, during the music video she debuted a new 3D costume. Her costume comes in two variants blue and red. Kiara has a jellyfish haircut. She wears a shoulderless, tight minidress with black, long boots. The red variant has detached sleeves and high socks. She has a diamond shaped lollipop ring. This outfit was designed by Kiara.

On 13 September, as part of their 5th anniversary, -Myth- members debuted a new hat accessories. Kiara has a pink bucket hat for her fifth 2D costume.

On 29 October, Kiara announced her Twitch channel, now with simply "kiara" as the username. It was originally registered on 18 April 2024 but had been unused.

On 7 November, Kiara debuted her eighth 2D costume. She uses a bun hairstyle decorated with a white ribbon. Kiara wears a strap, sleeveless, white shirt with a cleavage decorated by a blue ribbon and a heart-shaped window below the chest, to the side the shirt has an opening joined an orange ribbon. Her short are ruffled. Kiara uses long socks and chicken slippers. Kiara can also wear a fluffy white jacket or a cozy, big blanket with black heart-shaped buttons and crossed orange ribbons and a white sleeping mask with a print of closed eyes. She can also hold her phoenix cats Chonkers and Smoothie. This outfit was designed by Raora Panthera.

On 23 November, Kiara announced her second album "Vogelfrei" and TakoTori's first concert "Drawn to Dawn," at, Los Angeles, from 27-28 March 2026.

On 25 January, Kiara reached 50,000 Twitch followers.

On 8 February, Kiara released her second album, Vogelfrei, featuring six new songs, three interludes, and four previous singles.

Holotalk

HoloTalk with Takanashi Kiara is a live talkshow hosted by Kiara, with the purpose of interviewing and live translating (mainly) Japanese hololive talents to bring as much wholesome knowledge as possible to oversea viewers. In addition to the Japanese branch members, guests sometimes include other branch members, or even YAGOO, A-chan, Tomizawa Yusuke (the producer of the game ). The first episode was released on 20 November 2020 with guest Houshou Marine.

  • On 12 March 2021, as part of their six months celebration the holoMyth members announced that they would get an official BGM image soundtrack featuring Camellia, with a release date of 14 March. The song inspired by Kiara is titled "Krispy Fry-fry Party."
  • On 23 June 2021, hololive's Japanese Twitter account announced that every holoMth member would appear in "Anime Expo Lite 2021."

Name
  • In Japanese, her name is written 「小鳥遊キアラ」.
  • Her surname, "Takanashi," is written with the kanji for 小鳥, "kotori," meaning "little bird," and "遊," the root of "asobu," meaning "to play;" together meaning "little bird at play." It is read "takanashi," literally meaning "no hawks," a pun meaning that there must be no hawks for the little bird to play. It is an example of nanori, or idiosyncratic readings of kanji which only appear in names.
  • This kanji spelling of Takanashi is uncommon, ranked the 50,808th most popular Japanese surname in 2013. It is shared with anime characters including Takanashi Rikka, protagonist of the animated series "Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai", and Takanashi Yomi from, a series created by Kiara's character designer Huke.
  • Her first name, "Kiara," is written in katakana, normally used for foreign words or names.
  • She gives her surname-first, Japanese style, even when speaking in English. Ninomae Ina'nis and Gawr Gura also do this, while Calliope Mori and Amelia Watson use the English name order when speaking in English.

KFP
  • Kiara is the CEO of a fast food franchise called Kiara Fried Phoenix, or KFP for short.
  • Her employees are chickens. After a year, they are fried and served to customers. Kiara assures employees that the company's products are made with vegan chicken, and missing employees have merely been transferred to another branch.
  • After they are cooked, Kiara is able to return to life in a form similar to Kiara's mascot, Kotori.
  • Employees may choose their own salary, but they pay their salary to Kiara, instead of the other way around. Other employee benefits include German lessons, unlimited chicken nuggets for life, and Kiara will beat up anyone you have a beef with.
  • Employees are of various sizes, with some small enough for Kiara to hold them in her hands. The largest employee on record is 69 metres (226 feet) tall, and is tasked with stomping rival fast food restaurants to the ground.
  • Kiara is known by the title tenchou, "store manager." Since KFP expanded from a single store to a franchise, her title should technically be shachou, company president; however, she still goes by "tenchou."
  • On 17 September 2020, Kiara announced the menu for KFP. It included the Phoenix Burger (chicken meat, salad, pineapple, BBQ sauce, onions, tomato, bacon, and mozzarella cheese); and the Yagoo Burger (two beef patties, salad, pickles, egg, cheddar cheese, secret seiso sauce, and onion rings). Fans subsequently actually made both burgers.
  • On 3 April 2022, KFP revealed and updated menu. It included the new Kotori Burger, consisting of crispy fried chicken patty, lettuce, tomato x2, bacon, optional cheddar sauce, and a mayonnaise base sauce.
  • Kiara uses the hashtags #WOKE and #YOLK. As established during the Fire Emblem streams, these stand for Watch Only Kiara Everyday, and You Only Love Kiara. The history of #WOKE #YOLK was later detailed in the 2022 video 【KFP 101】Ep. 03: #WOKE #YOLK.
  • Kiara denies that KFP is a cult.
  • Kiara often threatens to send misbehaving employees to a place called the Usual Room. The Usual Room contains a jigsaw with one piece missing, screens which play Kiara music videos 24/7, and pro-KFP propaganda for "re-education". The floor is covered in Lego.
  • Someone once found the missing jigsaw piece and gave it to Kiara. She promptly destroyed it to maintain the status quo.
  • Each Usual Room is unique to the individual employee.
  • The notion that KFP employees are all chickens was popularized after a Minecraft prank by Gawr Gura on 15 November 2020, where she filled the back room of Kiara's KFP building with chickens. On 17 November, Ina was checking on the chickens when a creeper exploded in the KFP building, releasing the chickens. Ina attempted to return them to the room by staging a new employee orientation event. Kiara found out three days later and "fired" Ina for killing chicken employees.
  • Kiara's office at KFP headquarters appears in her superchat (tangent) reading streams.

  • The chicken KFP employee who serves as DJ on Kiara's stage scene is named D. Chicken.

Takamori
  • During Mori Calliope's second live stream, Kiara expressed that she has a crush on Calli, much to Calli's dismay. This has to do with the fact that Kiara is immortal (unless she's eaten), so no matter how many times Calli would kill her, she'd always revive. This resulted in a ship later coined by Kiara as "TakaMori."
  • Kiara frequently referred to Calli as her wife and often showed obsessive interest. Kiara went as far as writing a ukelele song I Love Girls about her desire to marry Calli.
  • Calli would usually rebuff Kiara and even nicknamed her "kusotori," "shitbird." This was interpreted by some as a tsundere act, giving her the nickname tsundereaper. However, Calli was supportive of the #takamori hashtag.
  • Calli and Kiara's hypothetical child is nicknamed Clara Takamori. Clara appeared in Kiara's Sims playthrough.
  • During Kiara's redebut stream, in which she temporarily lost her memory, Kiara appeared to have temporarily forgotten Calli, saying "Who's Calli?". The same thing occurred the subsequent German re-debut, "Calli? Wer ist Calli?"
  • In September 2021, shortly after the debut of hololive Council, Kiara and Calli announced that they would tone down the "Takamori" ship. The two remain close friends.
