Umi has two personalities. One is known as Yokai and the other is known Hime. Umi is the collective name for them both.

Hime is a straight-talking, bright mermaid. She often introduces herself as "the mermaid girl that lives in your bathtub." She is known to double-talk, repeating herself for clarity with phrases like "Hi Hi!" or "Welcome Welcome!". She loves cute girls, tentapats, praise, ecchi video games, cheescake and doujinshis.

Hime presents as female and utilizes a voice changer.

Yokai presents as agender and does not utilize a voice changer. Yokai is rarely on stream and not much is known about their personality.

Hime is a very short girl with light blue hair with spined fins instead of ears, a spined dorsal fin, and webbed fingers. She has a fish tail that is about the length of her body. She has two pairs of slits on her cheeks that are designed to look like gills, but are actually additional eyes that typically only open in Yokai form. She also always wears a pink venus clip in her hair that transforms into a red-hermes symbol when she transforms into her Yokai form.

Her primary outfit is a simple, white sun dress.

There once was an ancient being known as the Umi Yokai. Umi Yokai was hungry. Umi Yokai ate fish as their main diet. However, they noticed fish began disappearing from the sea with the arrival of humans. Looking for new food sources, the Umi Yokai created a second, cuter personality called Umi Hime to lure Sea Men to their doom.

However, one day, while trying to lure a Sea Man, Umi slipped and hit their head. Umi was rescued by the Sea Man and nursed back to health. However, Umi lost all their memories of being Yokai and began living life as Umi Hime.

One night, Umi Hime awoke to find the Sea Man was eaten. This became a pattern. Umi Hime would meet Sea Men and become their friends, only to find them eaten later. She eventually discovered she had a split personality. One Hime, the other Yokai.

Hime confronted Yokai and they formed a temporary truce. Hime's goal is to try to convince Yokai that Sea Men are actually their friends.
