- Akane means "deep red, dye from the rubia plant" (茜) (aka) and "sound" (音) (ne). * Canna is written in katakana (カンナ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (栞菜 or 環那), it could possibly mean: ** 栞菜 - "bookmark" (栞) (can) and "vegetables, greens" (菜) (na). ** 環那 - "ring, link" (環) (can) and "what?" (那) (na).
