Appearance
She has short reddish-brown hair, short but thick eyebrows and eyes with red irises. As a two-tailed cat girl, she has cat ears and two cat tails of the same color as her hair. The tails have white fur at the tips. Her hair is adorned by a gold six-pointed flower hairpin and a red sailor cap.
For her original Vsen indie design, she was a girl who had rounder raccoon dog ears and a single fluffy raccoon dog tail. She had a distinctive green leaf on her head, which is characteristic of raccoon dog legends using leaves for transformation, together with a green cat-eared cap covering her left tanuki ear and a hairpin.

- On 25 February 2022, Hoshimachi Suisei stream sniped Maru's Tetris stream after Asano Ruri issued a call for stream snipers to help Maru reach 2,000 subscribers. On 28 February, Suisei later dropped by Maru's stream congratulating her for reaching 2,000 subscribers, and said she would be rooting for her and Vsen. Maru became emotionally overwhelmed and cried tears of joy.
- On 12 March 2022, Suisei drops in on her call-in stream as a surprise guest after Ruri invited her as a good-natured prank.

One day, a self-proclaimed cat girl woke up and suddenly found herself flung out into the spirit world. There she meets a deity who reincarnates her to another world, where she received the form of a Nekomata, rather than a regular cat.
2021
On 13 November, Maru debuted as a member of Vsen's Autumn Class.
2022
On 25 February, Maru's YouTube channel reached 2,000 subscribers, notably after Asano Ruri tweeted that Maru was 50 subs away from reaching the milestone, and issued an invitation for people to stream snipe Maru's Tetris stream. Hoshimachi Suisei from hololive noticed the tweet and became one of the players stream sniping Maru on Tetris. This caused Maru, who had scheduled an endurance stream the next day on 26 February aiming for that number, to repeatedly adjust her targets from 2,000 up to 2,500 which she reached at the end of the day.
On 28 February, her channel reached 8,000 subscribers from the recent buzz surrounding her getting noticed by a hololive member.
On 12 March, she celebrated her channel reaching 10,000 and 20,000 subscribers with a call-in stream. Hoshimachi Suisei notably became a surprise guest in the call-in after Asano Ruri invited her as a joyful prank on Maru.
On 20 November, Vsen announced the graduations of Maru, Nanamiya Sou, Oukami, and Taito at the end of the month on 30 November. The notice states that all four will become unaffiliated independent VTubers.
On 30 November, Maru departed from Vsen and continued her activities as an unaffiliated independent VTuber.
2023
On 15 April, Maru debuted a new outfit.
On 13 November, she celebrated her 2nd Anniversary as a VTuber.
2024
On 29 February, Maru did an endurance karaoke stream before going on hiatus. This is her last stream as an indie.
On 12 April, Uniraid! announced the debut of their first generation or "guild" called EINS, which included Maru as one of the members. On the same day, the agency also released an animated PV on the official YouTube channel.
On 19 April, she re-debuted into Uniraid!'s guild EINS alongside Kamishiro Nanase and Hino Nagisa, and also debuted her newly redesigned model. The illustration was done by Yuuki Hagure and the Live2D modelling was done by Nachiku.
On 7 October, she celebrated her YouTube channel reaching 50,000 subscribers with a commemorative karaoke stream.
2025
On 19 April, she celebrated the 1st Anniversary of her re-debut into Uniraid! with a karaoke stream, followed by a free talk stream where she looked back at the events of the past year.
On 8 November 2025, she celebrated her YouTube channel reaching 60,000 subscribers with a commemorative call-in stream.

- From 1 October to 24 October 2025, Maru participated in the MADTOWN GTA event server organized by Crazy Raccoon, where she joined the "RiTunes Music Bar" owned by Rikka. She was known for becoming Aki Rosenthal's in-game adopted daughter and for her reluctant, sultry singing at Rikka's bar which led to her receiving the nickname, the "Moaning Devil" (吐息の悪魔) as a result.
