On 23 April, the formation of a NIJISANJI musical performance unit began to be teased, with founding members Eli, Suzuki Masaru, and Seraph Dazzlegarden posting silhouettes using the hashtag #にじさんじ演奏ユニットプロジェクト on successive days. On 26 April, the unit's remaining members, Tachitsute Toto and Emma★August, were revealed via a video uploaded on Masaru's channel, having been chosen by audition. The unit's name was revealed to be Gakudan V!VO in an announcement stream on Seraph's channel on 28 April; official social media accounts for the group opened following the stream.
