Personality
Shion is a smug, cheeky brat ("kusogaki") who speaks bluntly without the usual politeness/consideration associated with the Japanese language, and flirts shamelessly with other hololive members. She wants to be seen as an adult, but thanks to her childish appearance and mannerisms, all attempts by Shion to appear adult-like end up looking very silly.
She has a friendly rivalry with Minato Aqua, and the two can often be seen playing petty and mostly harmless pranks on each other.
One of her most iconic cries is her guttural scream of "NEEEEEEE." This was most famously uttered by Shion after Natsuiro Matsuri revealed that Shion's wet sneezing sounds were heard by Matsuri's listeners in one of her livestreams.
Appearance
She has long white hair with short blunt bangs and yellow eyes. She wears a large black and purple witch hat and wears a stripey witch outfit. She has dark shoes with a gold star shaped attachment on the front.
Background
Unlike the majority of previous generation of hololive members, auditions for the role of Murasaki Shion were not advertised in advance. She was scouted by Cover to join the company, although they were not yet certain at the time of interview that an opening was available. She joined because she thought it would be fun.
Murasaki Shion's Twitter account was opened on 1 August 2018, while her YouTube channel was created on 3 August. She made her debut tweet on 3 August, which previewed her character design.
On 17 August 2018 at 20:00 Japan time, she made her YouTube debut stream as one of five members of hololive's second generation. She was the second of the generation to debut, after Minato Aqua, with the second generation debuts spread out over several weeks.

They released their first single Hajimari no Mahou -charm- on 30 May 2024.
Likes and dislikes
- She is a fan of the Pretty Cure anime franchise. ** In a reference to the series, Shion formed a collab group named and "PuiCure" with fellow Precure fan Nakiri Ayame and Utsutsu Yomi. Shion was named "Cure Purple." It's written 「†魔幽鬼†」 (Mayuuki, "demon ghost") but read "PuiCure." * She gets along with fellow 2nd generation member Minato Aqua, and they often had collab streams. * She also appears to be a big fan of Gawr Gura. In Pokémon Brillian Diamond, she named her Garchomp "Samegaki" after Gura.
Miscellaneous
- On 24 November 2018, she slept through a live-stream that was supposed to start at 2PM, while Natsuiro Matsuri and others frantically messaged her. Shion posted an apology before starting her stream. As a result there was much adorable fan art of her sleeping.

A child that randomly appears around the Underworld Academy... though she's actually an adult (or so she says). A self-proclaimed talented dark magician of noble birth (or so she says).
She almost never actually says "Hellshio."
