Personality

Miko is a self-proclaimed "elite" gamer who is somewhat melodramatic and tends to become emotionally attached to NPCs and inanimate objects. Fans tend to use the term "elite" ironically to highlight Miko's questionable decision-making skills as well as her tendency to speak garbled nonsense punctuated by the occasional F-bomb. Though Miko specializes in role-playing games, much of the humor on her channel stems from the fact that even while playing graphic and violent games, such as Grand Theft Auto, she rarely takes her role seriously. Her love for erotic games often finds its way into other games that she plays, especially those featuring freely adjustable camera angles and skirt-wearing female characters. Despite her comedic overtone when things get serious within hololive, Miko always offers words of wisdom to reassure fans that everything is okay and not to worry.

She greets her viewers with "Nyahello."

Appearance

Her original appearance is that of a pop-culture-fashioned with short pink-hair with an ahoge, a ponytail on the left side of her hair, and a cherry blossom hair ornament on the right side of her hair, as well as pink thigh-highs.

In her new appearance, Miko has belly-length peach-pink hair with an ahoge, fitting bangs, and a small side ponytail tied with a deep-pink bow and a round bell ornament. Her eyes are a vibrant shade of green. Miko wears a shrine-maiden-inspired outfit: a sleeveless top with frills on the sides, with a deep-pink collar, and detached white kimono-style sleeves adorned with cherry blossom patterns. She dons a deep-pink, thigh-length skirt with cherry blossom patterns; the skirt has slits, under which a white, thigh-length pleated skirt peeks out. A large yellow obi bow warps around her waist. Moreover, Miko wears an above-knee-length white stocking on the right leg, while on the left - a white lace thigh garter.

Background

Sakura Miko was scouted directly by Cover CEO Motoaki "Yagoo" Tanigo. She was originally an independent VTuber under Cover Corp, but technically not a member of hololive.

Her Twitter account was opened on 31 March 2018, while her YouTube channel was created on 25 April. She debuted with a video on 1 August 2018.

Mascot and fans

Sakura Miko-35P Emoji
  • She has a talking pink cat by the name of "Kintoki" (金時) as her pet shikigami.
  • She officially calls her fans "35P" (みこぴー Mikopi), who also serve as mascots in her channel. They are usually depicted as white cats in her videos. Her name "Miko" (みこ) can be harmonized into the numbers "3" and "5" in Japanese, which also corresponds to her birthday (5 March), hence the origin of the fan name. Fans often Super Chat her streams in amounts of "3,535" as a reference to her name.

Relationships

  • Notable units and groups Miko is part of:
  • "miComet," alongside Hoshimachi Suisei.
  • "PekoMiko," alongside Usada Pekora.
  • "MikKorone," alongside Inugami Korone.
  • "Shiranui Kensetsu"「不知火建設」"Shiraken" for short and "Shiranui Constructions" in English, alongside Shiranui Flare (president), Omaru Polka (vice president), Hoshimachi Suisei (PR/sales director), and Shirogane Noel (intern). Miko is the education director. This unit is named after their Minecraft company founded by Flare. Shiraken has its own Twitter account opened on 7 September 2022, this seems to mark Shiraken as an official unit within hololive as their Twitter account promoted a collaboration with Kyoto International Anime Fair shortly after release on 12 September 2022. By the time of "hololive Summer 2023" Shiraken was one of the featured units in the event's website, and even received an original song on 27 August 2023 called "NAKAMAKA."
  • "Momosuzu Family," alongside Yozora Mel and Momosuzu Nene.
  • "MiKobo," alongside Kobo Kanaeru.
  • "EliKou"「えりこう」(as "Elite"), alongside Roboco-san (High-Spec/Kou-Spec).
  • "Magical Girl holoWitches!"「魔法少女ホロウィッチ!」, alongside: Team astra (in white): Amane Kanata and Himemori Luna and Team luster (in black) Houshou Marine, Shirakami Fubuki and Yukihana Lamy. Retired member Murasaki Shion and still affiliate Sakamata Chloe were also part of this team. holoWitches has its own manga and Twitter account. They released their first single Hajimari no Mahou -charm- on 30 May 2024.
  • On 9 April 2025, holoWitches' Twitter account presented Fubuki and Lamy as new characters.
  • On 11 May 2025, Lamy and Fubuki were introduced to the manga as new members during episode 5, later on 16 May they and the original remaining members did a collab stream in Fubuki's channel revealing a new key visual, merch and a cover of Moonlight Densetsu.

Likes and dislikes

  • She likes playing and has a playlist of her Eroge streams on her channel.
  • She has, in many occasions, accidentally opened an Eroge in the middle of playing another game on her stream. There is a scene in the game LimeLight Lemonade Jam released in 2025 that also references this.
  • She once said that was her favorite Eroge Studio. Among the games from this studio she has played and streamed are, Kin'iro Loveriche, and Natsuyume Nagisa.
  • She collaborated with Maimoto Keisuke from Nijisanji to discuss Eroge Opening music on a stream.
  • One of her most "eroge lover" moments was during the Minecraft stream (privated, with avaiable translate) on which she asked to be insulted and get annoyed. The first two people didn't do anything to her, but just a few seconds later, one guy said, "Eroges are boring," and she went completely ballistic.
  • Her favorite games include: Grand Theft Auto, Undertale, Minecraft and Pokémon.
  • Miko has become a fan of the game ARK: Survival Evolved like the rest of her fellow hololive VTubers, to the point of doing streams playing the game almost all night, every night, and concluding them at dawn after she watches the premiere of Tsunomaki Watame's "Watame no Uta." She usually participates in the Tsunomaki janken section of the show and it is a meme the fact that she loses almost all the times against Watame.
  • She finally "defeated" Watame on 4 March 2020, a day before her birthday.
  • Miko is not only an avid fan of Watame no Uta but also she is a fan of Kiryu Coco's Asa Coco Live News, to the point of making a version of both shows (and calling her version of Asa Coco Live News, Asa Miko News 朝みこNEWS) during her ARK streams on weekends. Asa Miko News is also called "FAQ News," making an intro mostly based in Coco's one, but saying "FAQ News! F*CK YOU!," instead of saying "Good morning Motherf*ckers!."
  • Miko has proclaimed to be Tokino Sora's biggest fan, she was already a fan before joining hololive even attending one of Sora's solo live concerts.

Miscellaneous

  • Her original designer, Tanaka Yuuichi, is known as the character designer of A Certain Magical Index and My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU TOO!, and others. Her hairstyle bears a few similarities to those of the main characters of both shows, Misaka Mikoto and Hikigaya Hachiman, respectively.
  • During a collaboration stream with Suou Patra of HoneyStrap, Miko confirms that her "Nya-Hello" greeting is a reference to Yuigahama Yui from Oregairu, who was also designed by Tanaka Yuuichi. In the series, Yui greets characters with "Yahallo."
  • Miko also has sung a cover of the song Yukitoki, which is the opening song in the first season of the anime.
  • She has varying official height measurements.
  • On 5 March 2019, she confirmed an artist's deduction of her height being about 156 to 157 cm.
  • On 28 March 2019, she tweeted an image showing her height to be at 153 cm.
  • During the Arte Akihabara and hololive collaboration campaign, an official height chart of hololive virtual YouTubers was put on display, with her height being stated as 152 cm. Her official website also lists her as this height.
  • She started to work as a VTuber to fulfill her dreams of becoming an idol.
  • Miko is well known for her frequent interactions and friendship with Usada Pekora on and off screens, forming the pair “PekoMiko" with the latter. As the pair was famous, hololive released the song "PekoMiko Daisensō," themed after the duo’s interactions and unofficial collabs, which were known as "wars," as one of the songs for the collaboration with the rhythm game WACCA.
  • She has adopted the meme "Press F to Pay Respects," and has it as one of her Live Chat emotes.
  • She is the twelfth hololive member to join the official hololive subreddit as a moderator.
  • Miko did not know that humidifier needs water to set until viewers pointed out during a stream in December 2021, which has turned an unintentional source of comedy among 35Ps; even the official Twitter account of Sharp Corporation reacted to a clip of the moment.
  • On 22 January 2025, Sharp and Cover did an official collab with a Sakura Miko themed humidifier while making fun of the situation by visiting COVER's office to apologize to Miko and YAGOO for not offering a waterless humidifier.
  • She has a younger sister and a younger brother, whom she referred to as Imochi (いもち) and Otochi (おとち), respectively. According to Miko, her siblings would call her by the nickname of Chappy (チャッピー).
  • In 2025, she began a Pokémon Ruby playthrough with the goal of catching shiny Magikarp and using it as her main Pokémon, despite its weak stats and the early Pokémon generations' more difficult 1/8192 shiny odds. She managed to catch one after 13,322 encounters in 152 hours and 55 minutes of play in 31 streams across seven months, naming it Taiyakin ( + kin, "gold"). It took so long that her starter Pokémon reached level 100.
  • Fellow hololive member Shirakami Fubuki famously completed a similar challenge in 2021 in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond, beating the game using only shiny Pokémon. Although that game had easier shiny odds, at 1/4096, Fubuki is estimated to have fished a similar number of Magikarps before encountering her golden one, as she also fished off-stream.
