Personality

Flare is a kind and extremely humble individual, almost to a fault. Her kindness is vouched for most often by the other hololive Fantasy members, which has resulted in her so-called 'harem,' with Pekora being an exception. However, out of the four members in hololive Fantasy, it remains to be Noel who is the most blatant in her affection.

Other hololive members, like Sora, have expressed their admiration for Flare because of her versatile voice and mature aura. However, although Flare is known to be cool and aloof at first glance, she is actually quite childish and girly, which comes out the most in her horror streams and when she is drunk.

She has also expressed her want to be more confident in herself in the hololive Fantasy 1st Anniversary stream.

Appearance

She has long blonde hair in a ponytail with a blue hair bow that has white stripes on one side and two white streaks in her bangs and reddish-orange eyes. She has pointed ears and slightly tanned skin.

Background

Flare was first introduced in a tweet on 13 June 2019, alongside the other members of the third generation. Of the five members only Marine, Noel and Flare were open for audition.

On 1 August, through a press release, her name and social media accounts, were officially announced alongside Shirogane Noel and Houshou Marine, also making her first tweet on the same day. Her Twitter account was opened on 25 July 2019 while her YouTube channel was created on 26 July. She debuted on 7 August.

Mascot and fans

  • She had a mascot, a fairy creature named "Kintsuba"「きんつば」contrary to the believe of some, Kintsuba is not a fairy panda, as demostrated by her concept illustration Kintsuba just wear the ears as an accessory. Flare claims that Kintsuba has retired.
  • Her fanbase is officially called "Elfriend" 「エルフレンド」.
  • On 12 December 2021, Flare introduced a mascot to represent Elfriends, small mostly white birds with black eyes and peak and light orange wings with a black section that cross their back. They use a blue bow. The Elfriend representing Japanese fans also use a blue beret while ones representing English fans wear a pocket watch below their bow.

Relationships

  • Notable units and groups Flare is part of:
  • "hololive Fantasy," alongside Usada Pekora, Shirogane Noel, Houshou Marine and Uruha Rushia.
  • "Shiranui Kensetsu"「不知火建設」"Shiraken" for short and "Shiranui Constructions" in English, alongside Omaru Polka (vice president), Sakura Miko (education director), Hoshimachi Suisei (PR/sales director), and Shirogane Noel (intern). Flare is the president. This unit is named after their Minecraft company founded by Flare. Shiraken has its own Twitter account opened on 7 September 2022, this seems to mark Shiraken as an official unit within hololive as their Twitter account promoted a collaboration with Kyoto International Anime Fair shortly after release on 12 September 2022. By the time of "hololive Summer 2023" Shiraken was one of the featured units in the event's website, and even received an original song on 27 August 2023 called "NAKAMAKA."
  • "Onee-san Gumi" 「お姉さん組」, alongside Houshou Marine and Shirogane Noel.
  • "NoeFure," alongside Shirogane Noel.
  • "Bakatare domo" 「バカタレ共」, alongside Shirakami Fubuki and Tsunomaki Watame. Their unit name is official localized as "Three Stooges." Expanded to "Bakatare Circus" with the inclusion of Omaru Polka.
  • Karashi-gumi" 「からし組」 or "karASHi" (as Shiranui), alongside Akai Haato(Akai) and Hoshimachi Suisei (Hoshimachi).
  • "FurePol," alongside Omaru Polka.
  • She is good friends with IRyS, they collab sometimes playing games like Splatoon 3.

Trivia

  • Flare is a half-elf. She has also mentioned that she is specifically not a dark elf.
  • Flare also has a good architectural sense, as shown in her numerous builds in the hololive Minecraft Server and in her ARK house.
  • Flare bows down in gratitude every time she reads a superchat. She also mentions its color if it is purple or red superchat.
  • Her 3D Debut stream hashtag (#不知火フレア3D) trended Worldwide on Twitter during the stream.
  • She is the eighteenth hololive member to join the official Hololive Subreddit as a moderator.
  • On February 2021, she and Noel got custom made platinum rings.
  • Just like Usada Pekora, Minato Aqua and Oozora Subaru, Flare established her own construction company in the Minecraft hololive JP server named Shiranui Kensetsu.
  • Current Shiranui Kensetsu member consist of Omaru Polka, Hoshimachi Suisei, Sakura Miko, and Shirogane Noel.
  • Flare and her fellow VTuber siblings compiled congratulation messages for their illustrator's marriage.
  • Noel and Flare appeared once in chapter 69 of the manga series Goblin Slayer as two adventurers walking around a village before it was attacked by goblins a few seconds later. Some fans were worried because Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy manga where women are sometimes victimized, while others weren't because Noel and Flare are strong enough and can protect themselves. It's not uncommon for some members of hololive to appear in some anime or manga, such as hololive ID in the manga "Ane Naru Mono", Kiryu Coco in "Love is War", or Usada Pekora in anime "Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω".
  • She shares the same character designer with Arurandeisu of Holostars, Makaino Ririmu and Lain Paterson of Nijisanji, Ushio Tia of Re:AcT and Shiratama Utano of UniVIRTUAL.
  • Flare loves Ninomae Ina'nis to the point of calling her My Ina on multiple occasions. Fans have joked that Flare is the strongest Takodachi among all or The most sanest Takodachi now Takodachi Prime.
